  • Jenuo Auction House Tax

With the gil removal from S-E massive account banning, and deflation in FFXI economy across servers, should S-E re-adjust the Auction House transaction tax in Jenuo/Whitegate as well?

I am not sure about other players or other servers... does anyone else feel the pressure of AH Tax recently? The tax is discouraging when combo with the rapid price drop and sudden increase of undercutting, plus the low margin of profit of certain goods. It is even worst if the items bounce back from AH multiple times when they are not sold after multiple attempts.

    Any opinion ^^?

    Re: Jenuo Auction House Tax

This is something I noticed recently as well. It has become almost pointless to sell stacks of crystals or other low cost items in the Jeuno AH. My major source of income, mining, is also most often not worth putting on the AH. Luckily, these items can be sold at the starting towns for better profit (i.e. without the high fee).

Unfortunately, for high level armor and weapons you pretty much have to sell it in Jeuno. So do I think they should lower the fee? I'm not sure. I would hate to see that be the cause of a new inflation, since gilsinks like auction fees and airship fees are the main way for SE to take money out of the economy.

Considering that S-E just managed to zap 45 billion gil out of circulation by banning some gilsellers, I think we have a long way to go before the economy is properly deflated. I think there's still a lot more room for prices to come down.

I don't really see the Jeuno tax as overly ridiculous, It only really hurts when posting things that are below 2000 gil, or when posting things over a couple million gil. Also note that there's always the bazaar option.

Considering most high-ticket items are sold in Rolanberry, anyway, I really don't think it's that big a deal. I personally don't craft in Jeuno unless I already have the ingredients+crystals, and I'm sure many are in a similar situation where they craft somewhere that they can get image support from (i.e. their guild's home nation, or possibly Whitegate). Skilling up, image support proves useful, and sometimes, to break HQ tiers, it's a godsend.

Besides, we don't need another reason for Jeuno and Whitegate to siphon players from starter nations, which adjusting taxes would likely do. I say leave it as it is, and, worst case scenario, someone has to kill a few Gigas in Qufim to pay the fee.

Even then it seems like it only hurts when you sell a stack of items for under 2000 gil, and I don't see alot of that going on anymore except for the people selling distilled water on the jeuno AH, and even they sell for over 3k now.

Maybe it does not affect you yet, or hopefully it does not affect you at all

If someone has to kill a few Gigas in Qufim to pay the AH fee becomes a norm, it is the end of Vana'diel ~(*.*)~ *joke*

The tax is okay if the item is sold. It hurts when it bounces back to the seller after 9 Vana'diel weeks, no matter of high-end or low-end items.

Currently I only sell a selected few goods on AH. I am now shifting toward hunting beastmen for gil directly, or selling items to NPC instead~

IMHO, non-consumable items like most gear/weapons would not be removed from the economy until the owner trash it, sell it to NPC, or his account is terminated togather with that item. For example, everyday there are players camping NM that drops O.Kote. Everyday, there are new O.Kote born into Vana'diel. Same for craftable NQ/HQ gears, or sellable CP/quest items.

I can see gil is created from beastmen and NPC, and destroyed by fees (like AH tax or Chocobo from NPC, etc).
I can see consumable like food and ammo created and destroyed on its own. It takes care of itself.
For craftable NQ/HQ items, sellable CP/quest/NM items, I think more is created than destroyed. (Do you want to get rid of your gear by selling back to NPC? or transfer to other player via AH or bazzar?)

IMHO, sooner or later AH tax should be re-adjusted.

              Re: Jenuo Auction House Tax

One easy solution is to sell things in Jeuno instead of Whitegate and Al-Zhabi

Auction fees are specifically higher in the new zones.

              per wiki...

Jeuno / Nashmau / Tavnazia Auction Houses
Single item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +50 gil.
Stacked item fee = 0.5% of the seller's asking price +100 gil.

              Al Zahbi Auction House
Single item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +100 gil.
Stacked item fee = 0.5% of the seller's asking price +400 gil.

              Aht Urhgan Whitegate Auction House
Single item fee = 2% of the seller's asking price +100 gil.
Stacked item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +400 gil.

              Other Auction Houses
Single item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +1 gil.
Stacked item fee = 0.5% of the seller's asking price +4

                Re: Jenuo Auction House Tax

I noticed the higher AH tax in the new areas too so have always opted to sell at Jeuno. But then isn't the bazaar tax the other way round (Jeuno higher than Aht Urhgan)?

                  Re: Jenuo Auction House Tax

Jeuno's bazaar tax is 5%, the tax in Whitegate/Al-Zhabi is 10%

                      Re: Jenuo Auction House Tax

Even with the huge amount of gil that was recently removed (Keeping in mind it was removed over ALL servers.) I still believe the game needs a gil sink. A means for S-E to get gil out of the hands of the player base, an off the server. Taxes and chocobos are really the only gil sink the game has.

They adjusted the prices of Chocobos at Crags which dipped into how much gil they could remove from us, and if we get rid of the taxes there's no way to remove gil from the game outside of removing accounts.

I'll admit that I didn't really enjoy paying 7k for chicken at Mea, but when you think about how many people paid 3~7k to get to their parties, it really adds up. Parties from Lv.60 up to Lv.75 were going to Mea for EXP. Let's just say 25 people rented chicken at the Crab during an hour at an average of 5k each, that's 125,000g out of player's hands. We need that and more to truly help server economy.

BAH! I didn't even think about Dynamis. 1M dropped, twice a week just from one LS. And with Dynamis, it's taking gil from the people who generally have the gil anyway.

If memory serves me, the prices I'm currently seeing are very close to what they were when I first started playing (PS2 release era). Since then, AH fees in Jeuno have been cut in half. So in effect, taxes are less of a burden now then they were 2.5 years ago.

Question thats been bugging me is where does all this gil go when we dump into chocos, airships, ferries, craigs and AH taxes. I mean does it just go in a huge circle back to the mob or BCNM or gil bearing quest?? When i first started playing I never understood why gil quests rewarded so low and prices were so high.
