i'm wondering if the 'free trial' from the collections box set stacks with the buddy pass.

like for example i use the buddy pass (that i hopefully recieve from some kind soul on he forum) and i decide to purchase the actual game,do i still get another month free?

it doesn't really matter but i'm just curious.i would buy the game anyway if i liked it.

You would get the month free on a seperate account. So all the work you had done in the original account would be gone. :x Because the way you get your free month is buy registering your FFXI code and buying a content ID with the game you'd buy, which would be different from the buddy pass.

Although, you could transfer items and whatnot to a new character and start from your own personal account.

ok now im abit confused.let me clear this up...

step 1: i register my new buddy passed account.

step 2:i play till the 30 day time limit is up.

step 3:i upgrade to a full account using the code in the collections box.

step 4:i have no idea what happens now.


..so your saying i cant carry on from my buddy pass account?

Yes you can, but you won't get another 30 day pass. The way it works, is you get a POL and FFXI(basic) registration code with your Buddy Pass. Then let's say you decide to continue playing. The only codes you'll need to register are FFXI(Rise of Zilart, Chains of Promathia, and Treasures of Aht'Urgahn). But! If you want the free 30 day pass(again) the Collection comes with another FFXI(basic) code, but that would make you need to start a new account.

To answer in a sentence, yes you can keep your account.

You just won't get another 30 day trial, like you had originally asked. Sorry for being confusing. x_x;

bottom line: no you can't get another 30 days free

your buddy pass is one account. the full retail codes (for POL+FFXI) create a second account (no upgrading). however, you can use the retail codes for the expansions on your buddy pass account thereby, in effect, making it a full retail account. you will still have another set of POL+FFXI reg codes left over that you can give to someone else to use as a buddy pass.
