What do you do to get armour?

Iv been quite lucky in the sense that at Lvl 23, wearing gimped armour, a LS member lent me (extended loan) a full set the Beetle Gear.

Iv worn it to lvl 31 with no probs, but now I need some new stuff and also some Lvl20 kit for my SMN and some BCNM battle I plan on doing.

I had my eye on the Baron's kit for a while, but with no high lvl synther's in my LS and not having found a reliable income yet, Im struggling to think of how to get a decent set of armour.

I know there is no way of getting everything for free, but I wanted to know if I missed out any viable options.

So far, I have got 1) Farming till the cows come home to save enough 2) Hopeing I "bump" into someone that can synth it for me 3) Thats it...

I plan on questing the RSE stuff for my Elvaan as that gives a lot of +MP, even then I have to chance that I can find a helper and its the right time of day for my race. That should last till 40's i hope?

In turn, I can wear my lvl20 kit (when I get it) till I can then wear my RSE for SMN as well.

Well, thats the plan, appreciate any suggestions!

Pick up a fishing rod and learn how to fish.

Everyone has to farm at some point, if they want better gear.

Unless you buy gil of course, and you'd be stupid to do that now.

Gardening maybe good for some pocket money, assuming you are farming your own seeds. Just have to check your plant once or twice a day. And gardening should not prevent you from farming, fishing, crafting, or even exp. parties. You can glow stuff in your Mog House while doing your FFXI activities at the same time.

Depends on what your are glowing, it may or may not yield enough profit to get expensive gear. However, gardening should at least cover the spending of food, silent oil, teleport, chocobo, or other minor fees, etc.

If you have job at level 30+, I would suggest level THF to level 15+.

Gardening requires you to log on almost every day, though.

Seeds/Bee Chips/Silk/Bat Wings etc all sell nicely and can be farmed with ease in or around the starting zones.

Like Celeal said, /15THF helps a fair bit, as well.

Thanks, looks like Im doing the right thing then. Going for Silks/Chips mainly.

Fishing now seems a good option as well quite interested now I read a bit of that guide.

Another option for some quick cash might be to switch to a lowbie job of yours, maybe a melee like Warrior or Monk or something like that, and level it to around 10~. Make sure you get signet every time it wears off, and collect all the crystals you can. In Sandy that's fire + earth, I believe. In Windy that's Wind + Fire, + a few earth. Also try to keep all the drops you get until they stack to 12, and sell them on AH. Crafters use a lot of that kind of stuff, but don't want to find it themselves.

This isn't really a long term plan, but it should help if you really need money now. And when you do those BCNMs with your summoner, hopefully you'll be able to sell the rewards for cash. I know the solo SMN BCNMs you can do get you mannequin parts which sell on bazaar for 200k+ on my server (or did back when I was more active).
