  • Used to play when Rise of the Zilart was new. Thinking about coming back.

Like the topic said, I used to play. I want to come back, but cant decide. Should I play on my PS2 or the PC? I'm leaning more on the ps2, but I wanted to hear some people's thoughts before I decide.

The PC version looks ALOT better if graphics matter at all.

Not really. Graphics is a small issue with me. I just want to get back in there.

If you have a better-than-average PC, then use that - you'll be happier overall.

If you'd prefer to play while surfing the web on your PC, then use your PS2 (assuming you can find a HDD + expansions, AND that you have a functional older non-Slim version PS2).

If you're one of the lucky stiffs who already has a PS3, then by all means use that if you're comfortable with it since I hear FFXI is in fact working on it.

I'd use the PC, because it's clearly better for online activities, online games included lol.

PC is easier, much much easier to find expansions and everything else too....

Sony kinda screwed FFXI PS2 already since they released their new slim PS2 which doesn't support hard drive. Finding the version PS2 of the game to install can be a real pain. While PC version, you can pretty much pick it up everywhere.

No one has mentioned the 360 here.

I use my PC, something I never thought I would be into, really. I've always been a console person up until I started playing FFXI.

Do you have any friends who play? Perhaps you could take one of their mules out for a few fights to see how you like the gameplay on their system. You'll never really know until you try it out, but go with your gut instinct on it. Personally I'd be happy to be playing FFXI no matter what format it was on. :D

Unless you're hardcore into being on a console, get the PC version. For one, it's cheaper ($30 for game plus all 3 expansions).

PS2 version is expensive. ($99 for FFXI+RoZ, $20 for CoP, $30 for ToAU) Not to mention, it is hard to find all but ToAU.

I play on the PC with a PS2 controller best of both worlds?

Plus i get standard access to a qwerty keyboard for typing

Wait until you can play FFXI with Wii-mote.

Honestly, I don't think we even have that many people here that do play on the X360s. Since you have to play S-E and Xbox, a lot of people decided not to.

As a PS2 player, I wish I had the hardware to play on the PC. The greater resolution is what interests me the most, nothing like opening your equipment screen and it taking up your entire screen!

And as people already mentioned, might have some problems finding all the games for the PS2. Friend of mine started about 6 months ago, and finding CoP was a pain for him.

You only need a free Silver account to play FFXI.

You posted in the wrong section, there is a forum dedicated to Returning Players.

Were you an importer? NAs never played at a time where RoZ was new.

Play PC or Xbox360... or PS3, but it might be bothersome to find those discs, as it is with the PS2.

If your PC can handle it, PC. If it can't, upgrade it, it's very cheap(less than 300 dollars), to buy the parts you need to play FFXI at a very high setting.

Everyones so helpful. I think I'll go with the PC, even though I have to wait until I get a new computer, which I'm still deciding what kind of computer I should get... x_x .. But when I do get it, it'd be better on the PC I think. Thats what I did before.
