Re: What do you do if you're lost?

I just tend to create a map in my mind as I wander. My party and I got lost in Pally Mines back in the beginning. Didn't take too long to get out.

But yea, if it is really bad just fire up the internet browser and check out the map databases.

Also, it helps knowing which direction you started out. If most of your traveling was to the north, try heading back south.

    Thanks for the sig, Selphiie!!

My experience from the few times I've used map markers is that I can only place them exactly where I'm standing. I've also been playing since before the NA beta test.

You still can't place them on a map that you don't have. Please stop spreading misinformation.

Two things first off Mozilla is Firefox unless you are useing a realy old version. Secondly Murphie is right you can't place map markers if you don't have the map I know because I've tride and it don't work.

If you pop up the Marker menu, you can move it around to anywhere on the map you want. For me it usually defaults to the middle of the screen, and then I move it to where I need it to be. But you can move it.

Re: What do you do if you're lost?

I think I have map markers on maybe two maps. They're a great resource but I tend to remember most things pretty well. They're great for marking coffer locations in places like Ifrit's though.

Re: Markers on maps you don't have.

Yes, you can move the marker spot, but you can't actually save any markers on the map unless you have the map key item for that zone. Sort of defeats the purpose.

                    ---

I use markers to point out commonly used but hard to remember things. In cities, I use them to mark regional vendors, map vendors, moneychangers (Aht Urhgan, Nashmau), which aren't pointed out.

For non-city zones, I usually use them to mark secret zonelines (Zi'tah/Boyahda), hidden map areas (secret room in Crawler's Nest), quest/mission related things that are commonly used but hard to remember (Treasure Coffer locations in Garlaige Citadel), or anything else that I think I'll need in the future but not often enough to memorize.

I did that inadvertantly in Davoi last night. I healed too close to a cliff with some EP to 75 orcs on it, and they all felt compelled to say hi and get me home as quickly as possible.
