need a little help

Hey guys. I just recently got into FFXI and got my hume monk up to level 11. I'm loving the game so far, but I seem to have hit a wall. I don't know where to go from here. Everything outside Bastok is easy to me now and the highlands are pretty tough to solo. When should I begin to group up? I thought I heard someone say in game that at level 15ish you go to the Dunes? Is there any place I can go to catch a decent pick up group?

yes, i did, but i was wondering when the proper time is to look for groups? also, at level 11 where should I be trying to find a group at? The highlands, dunes, etc?

ok...maybe i'm just not getting this...the search feature brings up a list of a couple people for me, at the most I've seen 5 people and the levels vary. Sorry if the question is annoying you, I just don't understand how the game works. I basically asked what level should I look for a group in what area...don't know how its been answered over and over.

lol answering the question would have been a whole lot simpler.
At lvl 11, the dunes are the best place. For my last few character, I did lvl 10-20 in the dunes.
It may take a while to get a party for a monk though. I have only played mages, so I'm not sure, but I usually get a party within 5 minutes of being in the dune.

I actually went last night and got a party while on my way to the dunes so that wasn't too bad. I read up some info on how monks have a hard time and I can see why. I also have a red mage but from what I hear they have a hard time too. The mages (BLM and WHM) seem seen like they would be fun also but soloing is always so hard. When I hit 18 and get my subjob I think I am going to try out a BLM/WHM combo or something like that.

BLM/WHM? So you're not gonna keep your Monk?
I have a lvl 9 MNK and lvl 9 RDM on one char.
lvl 21 RDM, lvl 21 WHM and lvl 17 BLM on another.
Unfortunately both got deleted due to a very frustrated person >.>
Now I have a lvl 4 BLM TaruTaru >.> I'm gonna sub WHM with it.

No, I'm definitely going to keep my monk. I just know that from time to time I am going to want to try new things. And I do eventually want to try out the mages. I am having too much fun playing the monk though!

Best advice I can give to any new player is to try *Everything*.

I started off as flat out DD... 2 years later, I have Summoner and White Mage as my highest jobs (as you can see in my sig).

You never know what you're going to like playing. Personally I like jobs which involve standing there, doing nothing and watching HP bars, but that's because I get bored easy in exp parties
