Just recently me and my LS discovered that two of our newest members were actually RMT members, so in an effort to help the alexander server, we decided to perform a undercover sting operation to rat the little buggers out in the open...
Me and 3 of my LS mates were at Fei'yin getting ready to battle Shiva Prime, when suddenly one of my mates commented on how two of our members havn't been responding to him on the LS. I then found out that our two newest members (Absentcara and Wandisaster) were both lvl 26 MNK/lvl 13 WAR, Rank 1 Sandy, and that the were always together in Battalia. Most importantly, they never spoke (which is why I never even knew of their existence til my LS mate pointed them out.), which led us to believe that they were RMT.
Of course we refused to kick them purely on a guess, so we decided to have one of our members switch to a mule and send them a /tell asking for gil in exchange for USD (United States Dollars). After switching chars, my mate sent the tell, and as we guessed it they replied, saying they would meet him in Jeuno to make the "arrangements".
That was the signal to make our call to the GM's. I made the call and informed the GM to check my LS mate's mule's chatlog for evidence of their reply and to inform them that they would be waiting for him in Jeuno.
After that we kicked them from the LS and were informed that both of them were confirmed to be RMT and were banned once they ran into the GM in Jeuno.
So as a warning to all, be sure to keep a look out for suspicious chars, even new members in your LS. Because now, in order to appear like normal players, RMT are branching out and gaining access to normal LS's in order to shake suspicion off themselves.
This isn't a statement how RMT affects the economy, etc. (and I'm sure this undercover RMT thing isn't new to the game either.).
But rather commenting on how out of control this RMT epidemic is. I mean the GM's start picking out RMT and now they are going undercover with new accounts to shake suspicion... they're getting smarter!!!
