    See, I really like being a Warrior. But I hate being a War/nin. I hate having my own subjob stuffed down my throat. I'm war/nin 95% of the time (any time I expect to fight anything DC+). Fact is, while other subjobs are good (and I have many of them), they cannot compete with the ability to have terrific offense and the best defense. If I'm a level 50 Warrior, and I'm exping in The Boyahda Tree, I could sub THF and kick entirely too much ass, but the NIN tank will likely let me die, or he may D/C and I'll end up tanking for the next hour (yes, I believe WARs can tank). So I sub nin to play it safe.

    This is where I suggest an out-of-mog SJ change. I don't want to ever be able to change main job, just sub. Basically, you would go to the main menu, select Status, and there would be a new menu called Support job or something. Maybe a sub-menu of Job Levels or something. It would open a list of your potential subs, you would select one, and instead of instantly changing, you would get a "are you sure" prompt much like throwing out Rare/ex items.

    When you confirm your new subjob, you become Weakened. I'm thinking maybe the double-weakened thing to affect /ra and /ma. Or maybe the super-weakened of Dynamis or something. If this isn't enough, maybe it should just put you in weakened but also leave you at 1 HP, no MP. If you want to get further, if there are programming complications with it not whiping negative status, then it could just have a red line of text of "could not perform action" if you have any sort of negative status effect.

    So basically, if you're in Sky and you find you'd rather have a different SJ, you just have to wait for Weakened to wear off. 5 minute break in the action isn't exploitable, is it?

    I was thinking maybe a moogle quest to get this ability (and not a terribly hard one. Kazham levels would get a lot of benefit from this).

    Am I the only person who would think this is a great idea?

      I like that Lmnop, but it seems way too complicated for SE to implement.

      I've always thought a secondary subjob would be cool instead of raising the level cap. ie: 75/37/18 However, as fun as that might be, I can see it totally overpowering some jobs. That, and it would be tough to work around a lot of the subjob related things in the game like 30 mantles/belts and wyverns

        Yeah, overpowered like every mage you see would be //NIN past 48. BLM68/RDM34/NIN17... Let's see... Blink, Phalanx, Stoneskin, Utsusemi? Sounds pretty sweet.

        Farming as BLM with Stoneskin AND Treasure Hunter would be interesting.

        I foresee everybody sub-subbing NIN (Utsusemi), WHM (-na spells), THF (Treasure Hunter, Sneak Attack), and... that's about it. You'd possibly see RDMs past 60 going /BLM/WHM or /WHM/BLM just for Divine and Elemental Seal.

        Though, sub-subbing COR on lowbie jobs would be neato! Corsair's Roll!

        If we wanna talk distant dreams / probably never gonna happen, then I suggest the ability to use your subjob's 2hr with a recast of say... a week? a month?

        Hell, I just once want to try Manafont + Chainspell. Free instant-cast no recast Ancient Magic? HELL YEAH!

            thing I suggested seems as hard in my eyes to implement as Nomad Moogle + Merit point system (in that by being level 75, a new command is added to the "Status" menu).

            Heh, it could be available through a signal pearl-esque item that summons a moogle NPC that only you can talk to. And doing so would bring up a dialogue box with the list being every job you have unlocked. If that were the case, I'd hope for 2 hour or less recast on item.

            I wouldn't think they'd give the ability to use SJ 2hour, but an item with a 2hour ability enchantment may be plausible. Especially if it's the kind you can unequip after use and still keep the charge. like a collar with Enchantment: Mighty Strikes with a 20:00 hour recast. So once a day... Hundred Fists + Mighty Strikes.

            Lower Olduum Ring recast to 2 hours. Would put people back in jeuno (where population is spread throughout 4 zones instead of 2 zones - one of which occasionally has 124 mobs killing people in it) and complete the circle of availability. Olduum to white gate, warparu to Jeuno, or upgrade to warparu to home city. OP to any older zone as well as runic portals to AU zones. I can wish.

              In that regard, I can definitely see the functionality of it. However, I think it would take too much away from their archetype for them to implement it, just like the selbina moogle. I think the subjob on the fly is a good idea in principle though.

                This is borne out of pure unadulterated laziness, but I'd really like to be able to not only receive deliveries at my MH but SEND them as well. My LS bounces back and forth from job to job depending on what we can find party-wise, so I always get stuck muling equipment back and forth and running to the AH and back in every city, so it's a pain. Like I said, I'm lazy...they could limit it to only sending items and gil between characters registered to the same POL account, if they we're worried about it.

                Another thing that would be REALLY slick is putting up a website on the www that lets you login to check your auction status without logging on the FFXI. It'd be nice to be able to check my auctions on my cell phone, but that's a laziness thing, too, I guess ^^

                I'm with you on that one. 80% of my friends play WoW, and the graphics are always a big reason they don't play ffxi. Personally, I'm not too big on the graphical style of WoW (too cartoony IMHO) but they are very clean and colorful and seeing it played on a 30" Apple display recently made me drool

                  A nomad moogle in Mhaura and Selbina is definately something I'd like to see although I doubt it will ever happen. Also a Refresh II or Refreshga spell would be interesting... or Haste II... Hmmm... Generally more second tier spells! ...Or a Geomancer, I was really expecting that to be one of the new jobs way back when but never mind.

                    Two Words.

                    Dancer And Geomancer.

                    I know people think we have too many jobs as it is, and that Dancer's role is pretty much taken by BRD, but damn, I want to shake my Tarutaru booty! Also, I think Geomancer could be a fantastic Tank. Esp since in most games, they used Axes..... and Bells. But ooh! Maybe they could be badass bells of doom? That would be pretty awesome.

                      As far as the sub-subjob. Would be way overpowered. Melees could go /WAR/NIN until 74, then go /NIN/WAR and get both utsus and Zerk. Best of both worlds and then some. Would be fun to see though. Vastly broken, mind you, but way fun to zerk, go nuts, and never get hit.
                      Still think Moogles in Selbina and Mhaura are some of the best ideas. Endlessly useful, and even the devs have gone on record as "Well, we never thought of it then." Won't happen now, but would be great to have.

                        Job/Sub job specific spells and abilities. The one problem with this game is that most people will only accept certain job/sub combinations. I think adding job/sub job specific abilities and/or spells could make the game a whole lot more fun. There could be ones for every possible combination, it really wouldn't be that hard to think up. There could be more than one for each combination, perhaps one every 15 levels?
                        The only thing that comes close atm that I can think of is Drg.

                        A few quick examples off the top of my head.... ummm...

                        Pld/Whm - Some sort of MP based provoke at a lower level.
                        Whm/Rdm - En-element spells for party members (Single or partywide).
                        Blm/Rdm - Spike shield spells for party members (Single or partywide).
                        Blm/Smn. Combo Spell Cast, summon corresponding element summon and cast double strength element spell for 1.5x MP.
                        Whm/Smn. Similar to above but with buffs/healing spells.
                        Brd/Blm. Elemental damage songs. Long recast timers (1 minute each) due to no mp being used.
                        Brd/Whm. Same as above with Cure/Cure II etc.

                        ..... well, can't think of many more. It's way too early. But hopefully you can see what I was thinking. If anyone else has any more ideas for spell/abilities, please post them

                          easy enough to think of, but hard to program even one new trait. And S-E certainly doesn't want to come up with over 300 potential combination abilities.

                          That's why if they did something like that, they'd prolly take the wyvern route: mage/melee/hydrid. One of three combo abilities depending on which type of sub you choose. Of course, the ability you program for that sort of thing could be made to work better with some SJs than others. Like... if /melee gave Haste+4% trait (just an example. Not really what I'd want), it'd be more apealing to drg/sam than it would to drg/war since /sam gives you a solid start on Haste anyway.

                          Not sure I'd want something like this or even the 300+ idea at this point of the game, unless it gave war/mnk a Stoneskin JA.
