The only reason I don't like RP so much (I am a fan of RP) is because most people do it in a very bad and annoying way. I'm all for RP, but don't do this:
1) Don't put channel spam in your macros--Normal people don't shout, "Carbuncle, I choose you!", every 10 seconds and spell casting is "implied"--if you want to utter incomprehensible incantations in Akkadian, go ahead, but do it -once- or every once in a while... not all the time. This scrolls the chat window which we Red and White mages are desperately trying to watch to see if our buffs/debuffs wear off--spamming makes it harder to read.
2) Don't be emo--Normal people aren't maudlin emo freaks that cry out, "Oh, terrible Dark Demon Gawd of Darkest Darkness! Grant me Dark Power to Darken these Dark foes and Banish them into Darkness! /em slits his/her wrists so that the Dark Demon Gawd can drink his/her blood."
3) Don't be a tard--remember the game's rules are also important. Just because your character has a Leather Fetish doesn't mean that it's appropriate for you to wear Leather when you should be wearing plate.
4) Don't be trite--If you're planning on RPing a stereotypical vamp/superhero/etc. don't bother. You get 0 points from me from running an RP "algorithm". If you aren't actually creative enough to RP something at least mildly entertaining, you'll just annoy me and everyone around you. Originality onry.
I'm a D&D/Shadowrun DM/GM and I award experience for doing things in line with your character's personality. There are some RP Linkshells out there... Find one you like and get a Worldpass to the server they play on. I have a preference for comic relief at least to some extent. Remember not to take yourself too seriously... It's annoying.
