  • Raving about Korrokola Tunnel

...I went from just above level 16, to level 19 in roughly 3 hours.

That's almost as fast as I went from level 1 to level 4.

    I'm impressed.

Korroloka Tunnel is the one of the best-kept secrets amongst veteran FFXI players for the mid-teen level grind. Glad to hear you had a good experience there.

Oh, it's no secret... A good portion of the people I've played with know Korroloka's arife with experience. It's just hard to get Valkurmites to walk all the way to Bastok. ^^ Of course if you start party in Jeuno with Rank 5+...

Yeah, you're both right. It's the best kept secret, but not really by choice. There's a lot of screaming and tantrums that go into not getting a party to head to Korroloka Tunnel instead of Dunes, believe me.

lol your right on that account. Only trouble is when the tunnels get crowed then the xp isn't so good. I had a dunes party where one member kept insisting on the tunnels and threw a fit when the party didn't want to leave a working setup in Valkurm to walk to bastok when the tunnels were crowded. There seem to be periods when dunes hold better xp then the tunnels hold better xp depending where everyone is crowding at the time. I tend to go which one is less crowded if I can.

In truth due to switching trends I've found the xp averages to equal between the two spots if the party knows what it's doing, but the tunnels have more leaway with inexperience since a link is easier to flee if neccisary and there are more parties campting that will kill the linked worm because they need a pop also. At least on Garuda it tends to be crowded there it may be a better experience on other servers.

Buburimu can also be some great exp now that it's deserted. My old static of PLD DRK SAM RDM BLM BRD got Chain #4 280 there on gobs and bull dhalmels and we weren't even using juice.

It's really hard to get a pickup party anywhere but Valkurm, though, so any alternative party spot is pretty much static only (or at least a LS party with 3+ people from the LS).

A couple more little-known spots: Behind the outpost in Zi'Tah, mid to upper 30s, goblins and flies; outside the east entrance to Ifrit's Cauldron, mid-40s, goblins.
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses
            RDM90, PLD90, DRG90, COR90, SCH90, BLU54
All Nations Rank 10, ZMs & PMs Complete, AUMs Complete, Captain, Nyzul Floor 100 (5 Weapons, 4 WS), Medal of Altana, WotG Mission 15, 1/3 Addons Complete, 9/9 Abyssea Main Quests, 6/6 Caturae

              Re: Raving about Korrokola Tunnel

I ended up with the party at Qufim island near the pond by the end of the night. Despite the fact that my friend upstairs and I were the only English Speaking members of the party, (We went through a ton of members over the course of the night, something I drastically appreciate in a party is getting reps...) it was all business. Everybody knew their jobs, and what they were supposed to do. Only thing that drove me crazy was the 2nd Warrior would just not get out from behind the target.

I'm loving this game so far.
