  • Character transfers?

Im a returning player to the Unicorn server (starting from scratch) and Ive noticed the population of it is terrible for low level areas.

Im at level 10 now and I am really struggling to find just 1 person to group with.

Does Square Enix allow any kind of character transfer or have I just been unlucky for the past few days?

Most people solo to at least level 11-12. Much easier than actively trying to find a duo partner (if it happens great, but don't count on it).

As far as character transfers, Square-Enix does allow World Shifts once in a very long time when they need to balance the population on different servers, but they haven't done so for quite some time (over a year I think?). Even in those cases, you generally don't get to choose which server you go to, and in any case, most servers are roughly similar.

Yeah I realise that most people solo at those levels... but I took a quick look in Tahrongi Canyon (Windurst starter) and all that was there was a few very high levels.

I was hoping to get into a group around level 10 as im just soloing at the start of it, its pretty slow levelling.

      Thanks for the response.

        Re: Character transfers?

Hmm, one thing I do is go back to the newbie area, like say Saruta-baruta and just line up about 4-6 mobs that will give me at least 15 exp, and chew through them one after another. If you're good at timing the "Switch Target" selection, you can have your weapon drawn the whole time, switching over to the new target a split second before the final blow to the last one kills it. It takes some scouting before hand so you know which mobs in the area still give exp, but it works really well when you get the hang of it. Your weapons will be slightly underlevelled since everything in Saruta is lvl 8 tops, but it's faster than trying to solo a Canyon Rarab or Pygmaoi in Tahrongi Canyon.

Saruta has been good to me, I think I levelled nearly everything to 15 solo there. Once I hit 15, finding a party was vastly easier in Buburimu Penninsula, or Valkurm Dunes. Skills were dicey for the first few kills in every party I got in, but Valkurm is really forgiving, and your skills catch back up to normal caps pretty fast at those levels.

          Re: Character transfers?

There's never anyone in Tarongi these days. The maze of Shakrami, excellent levelling place for groups of level 11-12 is totally deserted. If you want to see more people, ride the ship to Selbina and go solo around La Thaine. Valkrum is possibly the only place you can get random pickup parties these days for levels 12-20. There are other good places to level but unless you form your group with your friends or LS, you won't find random pick up groups anywhere else.

You can always try to make a party near Selbina and get them to move to Shakrami. Will take a lot of persistence but it will definately pay off in the end.

              Re: Character transfers?

If you really wanted to switch servers, level 1-10 isn't that hard to get. Maybe it's just that I can sub WHM or so, but it only takes me a couple of hours these days.

I don't know if other servers are more populated, I have noticed on Midgardsormr that the population has decreased in Valkurm at my prime time zone (being 6PM-9PM +10GMT). So I don't know...

yeah is so sad no one hunts those maze makers anymore. That's how I orginally got my thief to 15...it was alot easier to get some mages to take me on as an extra(I spammed a few arrows to help) than to get a party in the dunes...

I agree, the maze was a fantastic place to level. If only people were more open minded about camps these days. ,_,

                      Re: Character transfers?

Maze is awesome for rangers or magic users. You can stand far away enough to poke at them and only get hit with spells. Bring a few Pamama au tait or some Selbina milk to regen some hp and you should be fine shooting at the worms.

I forgot what level bloody bolts were, but they were wonderful for my thief at level 20+.

Does the airship still require a certain level to use?

                          Re: Character transfers?

No, you just have to be rank 5 to take the airships to the cities. And do a small quest to get the airship to Kazham.

Rank 5? Damn...Well ive got a long way to go.

Is there another way to get to selbina?

                              Re: Character transfers?

East Sarutabaruta >> Tahrongi Canyon >> Buburimu Peninsula >> Mhaura >> Ship >> Selbina.

Don't take this route though. You will more than likely aggro something in Buburimu and die on the spot. Your best bet is to get there from Valkrum Dunes. (much faster too)
