Well, the first time I tried it I didn't have the quest active.

The second time I tried it, it went fairly quickly, but I went into my MH before I could do the second part so I had to re-do the first part. >.<

So, essentially, to get this done quickly w/o it taking 4-8 hours, you need 2-3 different kinds of candy? Wow, what a timesink.

its not that hard, watch the first witch before you start the quest and learn her moves, then just start the quest pop a treat to a trick mob and then follow her... rather simple really... then wait til the next day pops and start the quest again this time for the HQ version

Yes. Then bough cookies, then got a costume (eventually) then followed that ghost mithra around. Gone through at least 6 or so costumes. I thought the quest didn't activate so I have even gone back to that NPC at the gate to West Sarutabaruta and talked to him again.

If you are not getting little wistful messages from the ghost (just speculation) then chances are you are following the wrong one. You have to follow one of them first. If you're doing it in Windy or Bastok I'm not sure which it is, but in Sandy it's the one closer to the Chateau.

I'm having issues with the Pitchfork in N. Sandy. I have a partner, he is in the hound suit. I am in the Shade suit, as the guide says. We stand under the bomb decorations and nothing. We've done it twice. We have the right costumes, I've quadruple checked w/ the guide here, but we're getting nothing. Is this the right decorations?

Yeah, that's right, that's the exact thing my partner and I did earlier. If you or your partner has already gotten the pitchfork I think it might not work. You might want to ask your partner if he/she has already gotten it. I don't know if that's true for a fact but it seems like that might be the reason.

My partner and I are having trouble getting the HQ Pitchfork. He is from Sandy and I am from Windy, and we got the NQ fork from Sandy with ease (after figuring out the mob combination). We went to Bastok with NQ forks equipped, and we accidentally got in the costumes for the NQ fork again, which resulted in us each receiving a Jack-O-Lantern from the bomb decoration. We waited one game day, then got in the gobbie costumes. We went to all the bomb decorations, but with no success. Is it because I'm from Windy, but did not do the original NQ fork quest in my hometown? I hope I'm not screwed out of the HQ fork because of this. -_-;

Did anyone else get the NQ fork in a town not their hometown and successfully get the HQ fork?

UPDATE :: Windurst Witches
These are the winning phrases the witches say when you have completed following her and listening to her story without her saying "!!! You... Your no monster!" (which makes you fail and lose your costum, meaning you get another costume or wait 1 vanadiel day to try again)

The witch Bikho Ronpotteh will say "Enough... you have learned my secret... Leave me in peace..."

The witch Guwana will say "Are you satisfired...? Then Hushy-wush and leave... You'll scare the fishy-wishies..."

Also if you were close to finishing the story before being spotted and get another costume it picks up right where you left off. It happened to me ^^
Unless you zone or something. That I am not so sure about.

Do you mean Event Storage or Mog Storage? The first costumed NPC tried to give me a Trick Staff II when I already had one in regular Mog Storage >.<
Easier way to Trade sweets:
Put yourself on auto-follow and macro
/item "Ginger Cookie" <t>

I had all my stuff stashed in Event Storage. Apparently, running around with all your former equipment in inventory prevents them from giving you duplicate items. It also makes it somewhat simpler to control what they give you by equipping any members of your desired items' "pair".

We both weren't even playing last Halloween. o.o This is our first time doing this event. Is there something we're supposed to click or do we just stand there? Because we did. For the whole duration of our costume one time, and the second we moved to two or three other sets of decorations.

O.o anyone has any idea how to get the Treat Staff II exactly? I got the items in the following order: pumpkin head >>> horror head >>> trick staff >>> pumpkin head II
And this is how I what i was wearing when receiving them:

Nothing>>> pumpkin head
Pumpkin head >>> horror head
Horror head >>> trick Staff
Trick Staff >>> pumpkin head II
Pumpkin head II >>> nothing yet!!!! >.<


And now I'm stumped it was really fast to get those items, but I've been trading all day and can't get anything else??

to get Treat II you need to get Trick II randomly
the NQ items are Trick, Trick II, Pumkin, Pumpkin II
HQ Treat, Treat II, Horror, Horror II
to get the hq you need the nq first
