  • Uncharted areas.

So what places have you seen mention of that are "off the map?" Of course, there's the Far East, and the Far West, but really those places are just entirely too generic.

Tsahya - Mithran homeland in the far south.
Garhada - an island in the south where they apparently have a lot of teak.

My fishing rod's description says it "appears in far eastern mythology." I wish it can lead me to more quest, exclusive to my rod : /
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

I remember some firework descriptions say something about the far east.

Both of the high end fishing rods in FFXI come from mythology.

Lu Shang's Fishing Rod comes from an ancient Chinese myth about a fisherman who caught a dragon with his fishing rod.

Ebisu is the name of a Japanese god of the oceans and fishing (I believe it's one of the Shinto kami).

Pre-post-EDIT: Yes, Ebisu is one of the kami

        Ebisu

A deity worshiped as the protector of basic livelihoods and believed to impart happiness and prosperity. Generally regarded as united with the native deity Kotoshironushi no kami, Ebisu is worshiped in the city as the god of merchants and in rural areas as the god of the ricefields (ta no kami). These beliefs originated in fishing villages, where Ebisu was believed to be the god of abundant catches. He was thought to have appeared from out of the sea, a god from a far country believed to bring blessings.

Well, to the North we have:

"The Orcish Empire" and "The Gigas Home Islands".

Neither of those really sounds like a great place to visit, or a proper name for the place, for that matter.
