  • Quick Partying Q's

Ok, so been on the game 3 weeks now and managed to hit lvl 20, get my sub job and started chooc quest in Jeuno.

So i thought its time for me to ask 1 question thats been bugging me for ages...

When party members use macro's, what does all this <call##> thing about?

Also, as i spent all my gil on armour when i got to Jeuno, I need more money for the Gausebit Greens for the Choc quest. Good way of earning money in Jeuno?

(or i could go back and lvl my blm....and so farming crystals as well....)

    Thanks

    Re: Quick Partying Q's

When a player uses a <call> it makes a noise, there is a different noise for each number and maybe someone else here know how many there is in total.

Having a <call> just brings your attention to the Chat log more most of the time people use it to indicate there Tp so a Skillchain can be performed. Mages tend to use it to indicate how much Mp they have. Another commone one is when someone is pulling they add the <call> part so that the party knows a monster is inbound.

As for money it's tricky to earn at low levels my best method is to go hunting for Silk in East/West Saturaba (can't spell the name) near Windhurst they get you 20-25,000 a stack, failing that keep your Beastman Seals and go on a few BCNM hunts.

    I hope this helps.

<call##> and <scall##> trigger sounds. There are a couple of good reasons for using calls (though there is no good reason for using the annoying calls):

      1) It gives an audible alert for important events, e.g. pulling a mob, low MP, starting a skillchain, etc.
      2) It can be used to alert players who are AFK that their presence is requested now (not really specific to macros)
      3) When text is scrolling during battle, it can be extremely useful to have the audible alert to let you know something important is going on

Another good thing to do when you're in a PT is to change your "Party" text setting to "Hold" in the messages configuration. I forget which menu option this is, but it helps to keep the party text from scrolling away for a second or two.

I've collected a stack of 99 seals, and my highest job level is RDM 25. Are there BCNMs for my level?

Thanks guys, ill keep that in mind.

Also, I have practically all my safe full of items of some sort, I suppose i should really go through it and see what I can sell/craft to make some cash.

Also interested in if there are any BCNM hunts for my lvl - RDM20/BLM9 - how much money do you get for these?

                  Re: Quick Partying Q's

                  BCNMs start at lvl 20
ENMs start at lvl 30 after you complete the Promies.
Gil depends on what items drops. If your lucky a mil or so otherwise a few hundred k (100k, 200k, 300k..etc)

If your inventory is packed you should start doing the goblin bag quests which start in Lower Jueno (goto ffxi.somepage.com for more detailed information about the quest). You can also do the mog house quest for more room for your mog safe. If your need any more room then go get TOAU complete a few mission for access to a mog locker, which can also be upgraded for more slots. If this still isn't enough room for you then talk to NPCs that are willing to storage certain sets of armors for you at a certain price.

One thing it's not good for is a Boost macro ><. Had a MNK that did that once:
                    /p <Boost> <call>
                    ..15 secs later
                    /p <Boost> <Ready!> <call>
                    /p <Boost> <call>
                    etc..
                    -.-

                      Re: Quick Partying Q's

                      Cool thanks.

I have pretty much come to the conclusion that I cant really lvl up properly and get all the spells/equipment i want without doing my quests/missions.....so I have decided to start questing for spells (cheaper than AH at 15k+) per spell, and also to start questing for items/equipment.

RIght after I struggle to get my choc, as that would make things a lot quicker!!

How does one start a BCNM fight?

I tried explaining it, but this does a pretty good job (plus I'm lazy ):

You don't have to have completed the promies to do the 3 promy enms. You just need all the cutscenes completed up to entering the promies and have the key items to enter the battles ^^

As for good bcnms, I did BCNM 30 petrifying pair (at the orc hut in the outpost) with two friends, setup was RDM/NIN, WAR/NIN and WHM/BLM. Basic strategy was to have the RDM kite the lizard on the right using gravity while the WAR and WHM took out the lizard on the left. We on 3/3 despite it being our first time ever trying this bcnm. I'm pretty sure RDM/WHM or RDM/BLM would work fine, just as long as you bring along yagudo drinks for refresh and maybe a few hi-pots.

Good drops for this bcnm: Leaping boots, Erase and Utsu Ni (We got utsu on one run and leaping on another)

                            Hope that helps ^^
