    Theres limitless possibilities.

I foresee Time Mage and Geomancer in the game atleast in a year or so, we asked for a pirate, and a blue mage, and we eventually got them, you just wait and see.

So yea, keep talking about the new jobs you'd like to see, and more surely than not we will get to see those jobs if people ask for them and talk about them enough.

In the FF games they call these Geomancer abilites XD

On another note: Time Mage is a job that in the past has used Cosmic-type magic spells(besides haste and demi and such). I can name one time spell in already in FFXI: Age. The debuff is cast by the undead. Also in FF5 the job was able to use an attack spell called Stardust which hit monters with a start animation(cosmic type).

                Re: New job ideas

One of the interesting things that I just had a thought about was what kind of story would SE come up with to introduce Time Mage and Geomancer, considering that they pretty much gave us a good work-up of the histories of both Blue Mage and Corsair (I'm not certain about Puppetmaster. I didn't see one, but I really didn't bother to look either. Did they make one?).

For Geomancer, I could see them incorporating the history with either the Mithran homeland to the south, or to the unexplored Western Lands (given the fact that the Brave set that Beastmasters get comes from there, one can safely assume it's a bit of a Native American style place, and thus, almost perfect for Geomancers to exist). Both could work.

For Time Mage, that's going to be a bit trickier. They're either going to come from the distant past (possibly a forgotten/forbidden form of Zilartian magic, perhaps?) and some Time Mages have escaped the fall of Al'Taieu or something through the use of thier abilities, or from the distant future, bringing thier as of yet unknown powers with them, while they explore thier past for some unknown (and quite possibly main-storyline worthy) mission assigned for some noble/nefarious cause. Again, either works.

Knowing SE, if they did put Time Mage into the game, it wouldn't surprise me to know that some Ultimecia-type would be pulling the strings from the future/past while trying to harness the power of the mothercrystals for thier personal gain (cuz, y'know, it wouldn't be the first time, right? ).

                  Re: New job ideas

With the Time Mage, I could definately see, for example, it being a magic that originated in the Far East. Ebil Plotline Time Mage XXXX used it to worship XXXXX, an bignaughtyebil avatar (maybe Atomos?) who ate a city. Then, seeing the destruction it caused, a group of Time Mages cast a spell on all of their kind to freeze them into an eternal slumber, until Shantoto wakes them up

                    Re: New job ideas

I wasn't envisioning Demi as a spell that'd stick alot. NMs would resist it almost always, of course, and beyond EM it shouldn't land hardly at all.
Yes, I'm aware that alot of spells applicable to a TM are already in the game. However, considering the fact that Black, White, and Red Mage all share some spells between each other, I don't consider that to be a balance issue.
I still like the idea of a Chemist. AoE effects could be dangerous, true, but that simply means the player will have to carefully manage what he does to whom. Same as any job with a party or AoE ability.

EDIT: As pointed out by nanatsu, BLM and WHM share no spells between each other. My apologies.

                      Re: New job ideas

Time mages have always been masters of time and space throughout FF's history. That concept alone would give them much more spell casting flexibility then just simple haste/slow casting. Time mage would be a fairly easy job to add because they can affect a whole new style of status and DD spells. I seem them bing similar to how Cor is used as they could buff a pt, debuff a mob and do decent DD dmg all at the same time. With the right spells they would easily fit into this game.

As for story, I always saw Time magic as a 'forbiden' type of magic. I believe it was treated that way in previous FFs as well. As such it would be something discovered in an ancient ruin in a new zone from future expansions. I see it best fitting with either the far east or maybe far north expansions, if they happen.

Edit: A friend of mine suggested Demi be a % dmg with a hard cap so even it was 25% of a mobs current hp dmg it still wouldn't do more then XXXX dmg. This method would also allow for a tiered demi system like many other spells in game, high demis have higher % dmg and dmg caps.

                        Re: New job ideas

Hmm jobs I see can (probably will eventually) being added is Time Mage, Dancer and Geomancer (request by basically 90% of the JP community so yeah =P)

I just feel they didn't add Time Mage because of the fact 50% of their magic is split between RDM/BLU/BLM/WHM. Hmm..maybe when we get the Far East as our next expansion we can see Geomancer and/or Dancer (Geisha?) since they seem to fit the middle-east/far-east asia themes.

Eh WHM shares no spells from the black magic set. BLM shares no spells from the white magic set. RDM is a mix of both white and black magic and it's the only one of those three jobs that has both types. A black mage is a black mage and a white mage is a white mage outside of your sub. No mixing thank you.

And personally I want to see Chemist. And none of that mamby pamby meleeing chemist stuff either. A chemist should have a gun. That is part of what makes Chemist cool. Chemist with no gun = not as much fun to play anymore.

Dancer is already pretty much covered by Bard, and is considered to be the same job/class by many Final Fantasy fans; for instance, in Final Fantasy Tactics, Bard is the male variant, and Dancer is the female variant (if I remember correctly). I just view it as being rather redundant to add as a seperate job- perhaps a different direction you can take with Bard? Instead of instruments and songs, you could have (say) dancing "shoes" or leg gear?

Geomancer would be kinda like BST is now, meaning that a BST is limited to the kind of mobs at the specific zone he is in, Geomancer would be limited to where they are to use their abilities.
It'd be interesting if what you can cast as a Geomancer, or a Geomancer's spells were affected by weather as well as zone/terrain.

                              Dammit! I want a dancer!

Oh oh! An alternate dimension's Shantoto (who is a time mage) goofs up some spell somehow and get's warped to our Windurst, double the Shantoto fun! Especially if they were completely opposite each other :D
