I would not chance my name but i would change the way people automaticly assume i am a girl because my ingame name is pearlsea, i admit its girly in a way but its an old username that ive grown attached to.

I would not change my name (Sisqi). Its short, sweet, and I find it cute when people call me 'Sis.'

And you can change your name if you're really that desperate. All you gotta do is delete your char, make a mule with your originals char's name, and then restore the character that you just deleted. Then you'll have to give it a new name. But remember, you can only restore a char once ;P

I'll take one of what pearlsea is having, please. If it were possible to make "Jenica" sound like a man's name, that is. I don't hate the name, but getting hit on by teenage boys got old fast.

I don't want to play with deleting my character though. I've become fairly desensitized to a guy hitting on me. (Three years ago, I never would have imagined myself saying this.)

I like people I've run into before remembering who I am so I'ld never change it.
As a side note one of the advantages FFXI has over wow is name recognition. You spend more time building a character and gaining a reputation and being able to swap names everytime your reputation tanked would make the playerbase considerably harder to isolate the asshats from. We've all heard the horror stories in WOW of people being pricks, ripping people off exc and simply making a new free mule leveling to 40 and repeating process. In FFXI it's 1-10th level mules and much harder to throw away a 40-50th level character.

I wouldn't like to change my name, I'm pretty content with Omecle, as I spent awhile trying to think it up before the game came out.

What I would like to change though, is the colour of my characters hair (not style). It's the typical scruffy blue/silver Taru head, which was good at the time, but now you see it everywhere. I'd rather it be yellow.

Which really makes me want to put in a suggestion to S-E, they should have a quest that you can do once per month or some long time limit like that, where you can just change the colour of your hair (not style), and maybe add a few more colours. Would be very cool in my opinion!

I like my two character names, Xylaa and Amyithe. Short is nice too, Xy and Amy.

Even know my name is kinda common(well the first part), my friends know me to well as it and I had it since Beta so I wouldn't. Can I use it on others though? lol get rid of some of the Sephiroth's around here

Most people don't know this, but according to many sources, you actually can change your name.. I've never actually done it myself, but the I have been told that the trick is to cancel your main character so it is inactive after the month ends, then remake it with your former mains' name on a mule(or have a friend do it?). With your character name already taken, reactivating your main will force you to change your name.

I considered trying it a few times to shorten my name and shed any grudges for many mistakes made, but decided the loss of reputation and friends just wasn't worth it. If I did, I'd be a complete stranger to almost everyone. Fun.

Again, I cannot confirm this myself. I have been told that is does work on 3 different occasion, and have read several comments on a few different forums about it working.

The name I *wanted* was already taken when I started. Kaira. I have often done a /sea all Kai to see if I can ever find her, but not once in the year I've played have I ever caught the name online, or passed him/her in Jeuno or anywhere else.

Telera is fine, I used it on SWG, and since my FFXI character's appearance is loosely based on my SWG character's, I guess it makes sense to have the same name.

Still. :p Wish I could've gotten Kaira. But I wouldn't change now if they let me. I like my current name.

Back in the day when I used to try and be creative, I made a few short stories involving the character I named my main after. It was a little creepy playing at first because the character is a Mithra (long story, don't feel like repeating) but thankfully nobody hits on me very often. When they do they receive a tell containing "Spoilers: I have a penis.", which usually creates a few lols and then they go on their way feeling awkward. Something like that happened with my static, they all thought I was a girl for the longest time but never bothered asking me. Then when they found out there was an awkward silence in the LS followed by huge bouts of laughter. One of them commented they were glad I wasn't female, because I can be really creepy sometimes, and it was unsettling thinking of me as female. I don't think I'd change my name simply because it makes me laugh.
