Hi, so I got my hands on an import version of POL. I can read and write in Japanese and would like to use an IME (I don't like the idea of using windower + ime plugin) for playing FFXI. Now, I only have the original JP client (no expansions) but I have expansions unlocked with my current account (an NA account). I read somewhere that I could use a JP POL with the NA client to play, is that possible? or will I have to go JP pol + JP client (in which case I'd also have to get my hands on clients)? So basically I just want to use an ime with FFXI without having to resort to windower + ime. Anyways hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Re: So... I got my hands on an import version
It's possible if you edit your JP POL registry to point to the NA FFXI.
I'm not expert about this but this was what happenned when I tried
- install JP and NA POL
- install all NA expansion
- regedit
and my JP POL only sees original FFXI not the expansion o.O;;
You'll have to add all that manually.
And everytime you switch version, it's going to do full file check so keep that in mind. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

Re: So... I got my hands on an import version
Thanks a lot. I had some trouble at first. I installed JP pol NA pol and NA FFXI, then I copied (not moved) NA FFXI into the JP POL and it messed up a lot of things. So I uninstalled everything, then reinstalled it, and simply pointed the registry to FFXI and it worked. Again, thanks a lot.

Re: So... I got my hands on an import version
Yeah, I installed them on a computer. NA POL. NA FFXI, then JP POL. Make sure the folders for NA POL and JP pol are different. Don't install them on the same folder. I don't think the order in which you install them matters. After everything is installed. Go to the Start button > Run
In the box type "regedit" then click run.
In the filetree (left window) go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PlayOnline\InstallFolder
In the window (not the filetree window) Right click go to new> String value Call that value 0001.
After that right click the new string value (the one you just named to 0001) then click modify.
Then put in the path for your FFXI folder. Normally the path is "C:\Program Files\playonline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI" but you would know for sure.
