  • Tutorial VanaNavi Mobile

    Introduction

Although VanaNavi is quiet old... probably about 2-3 years old... but now, with the new releases of phones (specifically Symbian Phones with S60 3rd Edition), you can actually run it. What is required is a phone with at least Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 or above. It is confirmed to work with Nokia N73 presently. But I am sure all the phones at least the Symbian S60 3rd Edition phones, N80, N93 etc) can run it.

    Instructions:

Before I start, some notes. You could get the the VanaNavi Mobile from your phone directly if it has internet connection, and accept internationl message, and if you understand some japanese. but most users probably don't. So I got the web site where you can DOWNLOAD the Navi for you. Also I only know how to do it on Symbian phone.

    1. Go to http://xlarge.sub.jp/vananavi/pub/vm1.swf and do a "save as" in your browser, and the file should be vm1.swf

    2. Now, send this file via bluetooth, infrared, or a data cable to your Symbian phone.

    3. I did it with Bluetooth so here is the instruction. You should get a message warning after the file is sent. open the message, and ta-da! The familiar VanaNavi but simplified to fit for the phone.

    4. Choose "Options" on your phone, and then "Save" to a place you like, I saved it to my memory card.

    5. To actually get the Navi to get the RIGHT TIME, you MUST have the correct Japanese Time... Here is some tips for fast switching.

    6. Quit all application, and when you are on the main screen, the bottom right should say "Clock" Open the Clock, and and scroll to the right, in that place, choose "Options" and "Add City" Choose, Osaka, Tokyo whatever, any japanese place is fine, they all have the same time. Don't forget to add the time zone you live in also for fast switching!

    7. Now once you are in Japanese time, go to your Flash. Or just open your message that you got if you haven't deleted it. Flash is in "Applications" after you open the Symbian Menu.

    8. Depending where you saved it, it could be in your phone, or miniSD card, choose the location, and open it. Now VanaNavi will display with "some what" right time!

I said "Some what" right time is because, with the Japanese VanaNavi home site, their Navi is about 1-2 VANADIEL MINUET AHEAD which is like a second ahead, so no big deal.. .since this mobile Navi is old...

    9. To navigate the navi, use your Numpad, each option should have a corresponding number.

    10. ALSO, YOU MAY NOTICE JIBBERISH... that's because the Navi is in Japanese, but don't fret... all of them have icons... like Airship Time, and Guild Time...

    11. One last thing, I am not sure if the moonphase change time is correct... according to Japanese VanaNavi homepage, it is correct, but the English version of VanaNavi have different moonphase chang time... so take note...

Whew... ENjoy this cool new feature :D~~~ Does it make you want to get a new phone?
Working...
