    Re: Good gamepad?

    SE supports the rumblepad... but
I would suggest to get a 10$ PS2 to USB adapter, and use a REAL SONY PS2 controller, OR get a xbox 360 usb controller. The game has programming built right into it that makes them work PERFECTLY on gamepad profile #1 for both controllers. They're PERFECT.

I'm thinking I might pick up one of those adaptors. I have the logitech (non-rumble) pad and I hate it.

        Re: Good gamepad?

I definitely recommend it. I have never found a single PC gamepad that's even held a candle to any self-respecting console gamepad, and I don't expect to for many years to come, if ever.

I had a logitech rumblepad (1? I think it was 1 and not 2)... I don't think it even worked for a day before the analog sticks "Lost their calibration," and I'd be stuck running right, or the camera would be constantly spinning unless I held the stick all the way to the left, which only 'stopped' it. Apparently, it was a known problem with the pad, and nobody had any fixes to it. Piece of junk, I say.

I tracked a "PSX to USB" adapter online, and made sure my local radio shack had one. I have not looked back since. FFXI, oldschool games, new-school games supporting gamepads, it's worked on them all so far, and I couldn't be happier.

        Every button's supported, including L3 and R3.

FYI, be sure to hit the analog button when you're using the sticks. It doesn't turn on automatically like on most all PS2 games.

Best gamepad? PS2... if you already have a Ps2... just buy the SuperJoy USB-PS2 converter... they have them on sale in Liksang.com and Playasia too I think... about 13 bucks.

I have the rumblepad 2, I've had it for about a month now, it's working perfectly... been playing Marvel vs Street Fighter/Symphony of the Night(JP Saturn version)/Legend of Mana/Chrono Trigger... it's been working quite well for all.

Here we go from the land of completely pointless (and possibly dangerous) advice, build you own Playstation to Parallel port adapter.

Now if only I could find directions for a USB version.

The OP's mentioned Logitech Controller, the RumblePad 2, is the one I have. I actually got my original license key for FFXI when I purchased the gamepad. It's set up just like a PS2, so it has a similar feel even though the lifetime may be shorter (don't know yet, only had mine 4 months). It's recommended by SE for use with FFXI, so it's probably been tested. I know when I got mine there was a glitch with it that was fixed in a patch just after I started playing, but I never noticed any problems with it. I only really use the controller for non-intensive stuff anyway, nothing beats a keyboard for speed and versatility (of course there's no analog stick on a keyboard).

Wow, I was just gonna link that... Apperantly, radio shack is no more in Canada, this seems to be the only PSX-to-USB adapter around... Though its unclear if it has force feedback(vibration), and it costs more... -.-. What do you guys think of this adapter?

Hmmm, do you by any chance have the controller? If you do, is it sluggish in any way? And is their vibration (for certain games of course)?

                            Re: Good gamepad?

That Nexxtech adapter looks exactly like my Radio Shack PSX-USB adapter, except it's repainted, and the badge on the front's been replaced. So yes, it's probably a rebranded unit, like TriggerHappy said. Bummer that it's about twice as expensive though.

here's what mine looks like, for comparison.

                            http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search

They don't seem to want to sell these online, so if there's no Radio Shack in Canada, you might consider the rebranded one, or another USB adapter (other posters mentioned them)

I wasn't aware Radioshack was bought out by Circuit City o_O . That makes me sad, because Circuit City is a very 'meh' store.

This is the one I bought. Had it for over a week now, and I love it. All the sticks and buttons work, you can turn vibrate on and off, and the response I get from it is amazing. Definitely worth the money.

hes in canada, so its not double the price. new egg dont ship to canada. and only the canadian radioshack was bought by circuitcity. almost all the Nexxtech parts are rebranded radioshack ones.
