  • Am i reading the latent DMG on weapons right?

    Hallihallo

I am not 100% sure how to read the latent effect of DMG on weapons.

    Example:
    Titan's Baselarde
    DMG: 28 Delay: 186 VIT +4 Attack +8
    Latent Effect: DMG: 33

Does that mean when the latent effect is activated the Baselard has a DMG of 33?

Or does it mean the Baselard has a DMG of 61 with the latent effect activated?

    Nice Day

It means that with the latent effect activated, it has a damage of 33.

Cardinal rule of survival in FFXI: If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. Very few things items in the game are "ridiculously good", so if you ever see an item that just blows you away with how much better it is than the competition, check it twice, then check it again to make sure you understand what it actually does - and then look it up online to be sure.

Also note that hidden and latent effects aren't always positive. Toreador's Cape is an excellent example of this:

        http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/6819

        Evasion +9, Enmity +4

The problem is that there's a hidden effect that increases the critical hit rate of enemies by 50%.

I remember that cape... The JP member in our LS called it the [death] [cape]. Sometimes [excitement] [cape]. >_>
