    Mike: *sensored*
    Mike: *sensored*
Mike: the credit card info has changed and i no longer have the old number
Mike: the one i have now
    Mike: *sensored*
ICR Chris M: Ok, is that card number the one currently on the account? or is it the old one?
Mike: there is no current account
Mike: i cant do anything without that id =/
Mike: i dont want/need my old chars
Mike: i just dont want to rebuy the game
Mike: and it requests that id
Mike: and i cant make a new account cause my registration key no lnoger works
ICR Chris M: Ok, the card number never disappears from the account, we always remember the last number on the account
    Mike: thats my current card
Mike: the old card i no lnoger have
Mike: it would be alil difficult for me to get
    Mike: if its neccesity
Mike: i can check some paperwork real quick
Mike: see if i have it somewhere
Mike: but it was a year ago
Mike: i no longer have that card
Mike: should i go see if ican find it?
    ICR Chris M: Yes, please
Mike: it wont take long if i have to look but i cant be sure i still have it.
    Mike: ok one minute
Mike: you need the first and last set of 4?
Mike: i only have 1 number written down luckily hopefull its the one that was used
Mike: *sensored* are the first and last 4 digits in this old card.
ICR Chris M: Ok, just a moment please
ICR Chris M: Ok, at this point the only account I can find for you is in our deleted database
    Mike: ya
Mike: i just dont want to rebuy the game
Mike: i dont need anything back
Mike: but i dont see a reason to buy somehting i already purchased
ICR Chris M: Ok, you don't need to buy the software again, just need unused codes. Easiest way to do this is purchase the game again
    Mike: ya
    Mike: uhmm
Mike: why should i have to purchase the game again
    Mike: when i already have?
Mike: and how would i purchase the game but not the software =/
Mike: i cant just pay the subscription fee?
ICR Chris M: Do you still have your manual?
    Mike: yes
Mike: but the registration codes do not work
ICR Chris M: Is it white or brown?
Mike: and i read on the forums they only work once
    Mike: its white
ICR Chris M: Is this for the PC or PS/2?
    Mike: pc
Mike: i bought it when the game first came out
    Mike: if that helps
Mike: the first day in fact
    Mike: well
    Mike: in the united states
    Mike: i mean
ICR Chris M: Ok, on page 11 of the manual it explains what's happened
Mike: i read what it says
Mike: but i dont understand why i cannot get my account back
    Mike: the game was purchased
ICR Chris M: Your currently unable to because we don't have access to restore deleted accounts
Mike: i did not deleat my account.
    Mike: you did.
    Mike: well
Mike: i mean your company did
Mike: so in order to "pay" to play this game again i'd have to rebuy what i already bought ?
ICR Chris M: That is correct
**Skipped some unimportant chat mostly me trying to ask why this terrible rule is in effect**
Mike: can you pass me to another tier?
ICR Chris M: This is 3rd tier support, there isn't any higher
Mike: a buddy of mine who had his account inactive longer than myself had his
    Mike: content id
Mike: and he renewed just fine
Mike: may i have my old content id then?
Mike: so i can at least try
ICR Chris M: He may have rejoined during a Return to Vana'Diel program, we currently aren't offering that
    Mike: so
    Mike: you have the ability
    Mike: but you dont
ICR Chris M: the ability exists but isn't currently available correct
ICR Chris M: Are there any other issues I can assist you with right now, Micheal?
    Mike: nope
ICR Chris M: Thank you for visiting our PlayOnline Chat line, Micheal! Take care and hope to see you online!

Your manual clearly states that if you cancel your POL ID, or lose your registration codes, SE is not responsible for keeping them around for you. That's your responsibility as a consumer.

Do not cancel your POL account and you will never have any troubles.

still kinda sucks tho, eh just wait for another Return to Vana'Diel program. Otherwise I guess you have no choice but to re-purchase.

Re: FFXI the only place where if you go to war you have to buy the game twice.

Well, that's the other thing they tell you not to do (lose that ID) in your manual. It's near the front.

It's not that I'm not sympathetic. But, well. Maybe it is. They spell this all out for you when you set up your account. The burden of responsibility for holding onto all of this info is on you. If you lose it, you have to repurchase the game.

Also, SE doesn't delete POL accounts. So if you are in their deleted section, then that means that at some point you deleted your account.

Yeah that is something we have to keep, if we lose it, time to rebuy the game.

In fact you're not really buying the software at, but the codes to make it work.

Its like this on many MMOs, thats why they can give you a buddy pass paper thingy in the box, its not the software thats only yours, its the codes that come with it.

since he no longer cares about the characters, why doesn't he just rebuy the game? the DVD collection is just $19.95 (or cheaper) and includes the game + zilart + cop. Considering you get 30 days free for signing up a new account, the actual cost comes out to about $7.

              Thanks Yyg!

heh, just because it says dont loose it doesnt mean they shouldnt give it to you to try to squeeze money out of you. Thats like saying you can buy this car but if you loose the keys... well you're going to have to buy another car .

All the more reason to keep track of the keys?

truth of the matter is that if it was like that, you would simply have to accept it, right?

Square-Enix never deletes PlayOnline IDs except at user request. If you've deleted your POL ID (something which is never recommended, since it's free to use), then you really will have to wait for a Return to Vana'diel program to start up again (typically in the spring of each year).

As mentioned above, though, buying a new DVD collection gets you full access to everything plus Chains of Promathia for a net total of $7. That's a small price to pay for not having to wait half a year if you really want to start playing again (particularly as you don't care about the old characters anyway).

No, i wouldnt, i mean i understand, but what could be done about it?

If it were a car you'd get a locksmith,

So does that mean for a game you'd get a keygen? heh

Edit: i'm joking in case anyone didnt know, besides it would never work, it would check to see if the key is active, and it wouldnt be.

If you really dont want to buy the game over again, maybe going in person to SE, (i'm not sure where the NA headquaters are) would at least get you more of a response then just chating in IRC.

It doesnt hurt to get the game again, i mean you could have backup disks, also if you just got a normal FFXI key, well then you'd end up buying the ex packs again for their keys.

Maybe I'm just a mutant, and I keep the case and everything that comes with each and every one of my games, (I have a 6 ft tall stack of bins filled with games and controllers and guide books, and a second one that's nearly 3 ft tall with more stuff.) but why'd you get rid of yours? Since it does have very important information printed inside.

I was able to come back during the last return to vanadiel. I guess it just ended because that wasn't that long ago. I think they might have them every 6 months or so.
