Well im gonna buy the game soon and want to upgrade it and keep my characters. Is it possible to play the trial then upgrade the game (before the trial ends) with the content ID inside the box? so i can keep all my chars and everything.. any help is appreciated

Didn't you have to type in a credit card number or something? I thought that when you trial expired they just started billing you.

So unless you cancel the game they will just bill you and you should have the full game now.

You have to buy the expansions seperatly. I think they sell the game with Rise of the Z, and the CoP together now. The TOAU you have to buy seperatly and register it.

If you cancel your game you will be able to restore it with a credit card for up to like 3 months. Then SE will delete your account permenatly. Twice a year they have a come back campaign where they will restore your deleted account so you don't have to start over.

            Re: Trial To payment

Each copy of the game and each copy of the expansion have an ID that can only be used once. The first time this is used on the main FFXI game, you get 30 days free to try out FFXI. After that 30 days is up, even if it is the middle of the month, they start billing you. I belive this is where the random 8.99 came from. Next month if you still have your Content IDs registered, they will bill you 12.99 plus one dollar/extra character.

The Expansions, weather you get them free in the main FFXI pack or buy seprate, can also only be registered once. However, these are free to use after you buy them.

You can also change the Credit Card you are using at any time. Just go to Customer Service -> Billing Informatin and change this. This lets you swap put pre-paid CCs if you will.

Err well someone gave me a buddy pass so i get a month trial or something for 1 month free.. i put in my CC and it said billing will be on 11 sept (30 days from when i subscribed) it said on the 11th i would pay 8.99.. is that the amount FFXI is worth? well anyways... after the trial im assuming it'll make me buy FFXI using my billing info and i have to pay that and get 30 days free again... I will buy the DVD and it will come with the FFXI code and the expansion codes, can i just use that code on my current acct and not pay the extra 8.99?

                Re: Trial To payment

Are you asking if you could just get new codes from the DVDs and stuff and keep useing those for the free month trial? That answer is no.

You can use the same DVDs to install on all your friends comps, then they just use there codes included to register the game. (I did this and "acquired" codes for friends)

I am not really sure what the quest is. FFXI is $12.99 a month, they charge to your CC. If you want to know about billing just call SE and ask them the details. They love calls like these. I called them once and told them the game crashed my computer and proceeded to yell. They love this stuff.

                  NO.

On Sept 11 (ouch) you will start to incurr fees. Since SE bills once every month on the 1st, they will charge you the fee of $8.99 on Sept 1. On Oct 1 you will be charged the regular monthly fee of $12.95.

You cannot get another 30 days free from using the reg codes in a retail copy (the vanadiel collection DVD) on your existing account. All you can do with the DVD codes is register the expansions under your existing account.

                  Thanks Yyg!

Errr uhm.... the trial is free for 30 days, then they make u buy the FFXI base Content ID then give u another 30 days free... And then billing comes... and thats how it goes... Lets say i were to make a trial account and buy the game BEFORE the billing for the FFXI content ID which is 8.99... Can I use the Content ID from the Box and put it into my current playonline account? Or will i only be able to add the expansion packs and have to buy the FFXI xcontent ID from them and can give away my FFXI content ID and Playonline ID codes?

                      Re: Trial To payment

no, no. listen closely to what I am saying.

Your first content id is $12.95. They charge this on the first of every month.

Since you are still in your trial, you get 30 days fee waived. Since your 30 days pushes you into the middle of next month, that leaves a balance of days uncharged from Sept 11-30. This price is $8.99.

Since they only bill on the 1st of each month, and since you don't play what you don't pay for, they will charge you $8.99 on Sept 1 to cover the remainder of the month. On Oct 1st, the fee goes back to regular and will be $12.95

You cannot use two POL/FFXI reg codes on the same account. Once you've setup your POL+FFXI account from your buddy pass, that's it. The other POL+FFXI codes from the box is worthless to you (well, you can use it as a new account) so yes you can give them away. The only valuable thing from the box, to you, is the reg codes for the expansions. These you can add to your existing account.

                      Thanks Yyg!

no, SAM/rdm is not even remotely an ok build. check out the threads (especially the sticky ones) in the job forums.
