Well, since the Memory Sticks ARE getting bigger, it's a possibility but the chances are VERY slim. Why?

1: Memory management.
2: Prople may find it stressful to type on a PSP (Unless there is a peripheral to add a keyboard).
3: Memory Stick Sizes. Compare that to the update sizes. Now, if there is a way to chop down the graphics textures a bit, or the memory sticks double in size enough to be used as a mini HD (Though I can imagine that this will be mega pricey), then FFXI could come to the PSP.
4: Connectivity; Wi-Fi only. ; ;

But knowing those guys at SE, they may pull something off.

i'd rather not see it happen, the game is restricted enough when it comes to memory and such, the PSP is great and all but it'd just screw over people on PC and 360 even more and you'd hear more people ont he two systems bitching about it.

well dude, PSP is just for those who dont have a good COMPUTER or dont have PS,XBOX,you cant tell them to upgrade Computer you %*$*#%$ unless you give money you cant blame on FF fans, PSP is just working find for most game but just abit weak..but work find with no upgrades but just memory

Wth. Do you not understand what hiroshi said? PSP does not have and will not have the necessary memory to allow for FFXI to expand further, i just dont see it happening. Whats with the attitude?

well dude, i'd be surprised if someone came up to me on the street and had a psp but no ps2 or a decent pc, cause the price of a psp is a lot more then it'd cost to buy used ps2. So pretty much you're just putting up an arguement that doesn't matter, if you want to play ffxi that much you'll buy one of the three things available, if not shut up cause I don't care.

PS- I think I speak for high end pc players everywhere when I say - Why should we have to suffer just cause you're a cheap bastard? And I don't even have a high end pc! but Damnit i'm pissed!

I could see a MH program comming to the PSP. Something that will let you check on your plants when you are away from home, but that's about it.

...Umm okay. Stop getting all mad over nothing. If you can afford a PSP then you can atleast afford a console. Stop complaining, it's not gonna happen.

That, and for only $600, you can get a PC that will run Half-Life 2 on highest settings at 30fps+.

I would love to have a scaled-down version of FFXI for psp. Maybe something like FFXI-crafter. Where you can only craft/fish/farm. Can't do quests, missions, join parties, etc. Also limit what areas you can enter, like maybe no dungeons except for the ones miners constantly go to. That would cut the game's size down quite a bit. But I'm sure quite a few people would love something like this for just sitting back and doing some of the simple stuff in FFXI.

I always imagined a cool little "utility program"... no exp parties of course... But other things to help you make gil / keep up with things on the go...

Interesting.

Strorage wise, FFXI eats up a little over 9 GB (FFXI is 7.24 , POL and tetramaster make up the rest). I don't think a UMD could handle something that big. Which would mean it SE would have to do one of the following:

1: Cut down the graphic resolution until it all fits.
2: Remove certain features in the game (I'm thinking quest/mission CSs)
3: Create a external device that harbors the game and have the UMD act as a load up program (UMD just contains POL). Have the device connect to the PSP through the mini-USB port.

Option 3 also brings up another problem. You only have one mini-USB port, so you could only hook up a mouse or a key board. Although, depending on how it's done, a key board might be all you need (have either the D-Pad or the Analog stick act as a mouse), or have the external device contain 2 port for a mouse and key board.

I don't see internet conncection being a problem since you can configure the PSP to connect to wireless routers, hence tapping a internet connection. From my experience surfing the web on the PSP, I can see a lag issue being present for FFXI on the PSP.
