  • In need of advice

Well here is my delema, I have just entered a onto the HNMLS about a Week ago, then they started to do, what id call, a light CoP run. Now I missed their b01 becase I have work to go to. Days later I am requesting assistance from that same HNMLS becase Sea is standered now. No response, now this dosent go on for just 1 day, its been going on for 3 days now. On the second day, I get a tell from 2 LS members not to shout in Aht Urghan, saying they will assit me tomorrow, they never do. On the 3rd day I start trying to get a b01 attempt, I ask the LS, no one responds, THEN everyone gets their lv.50 cap items out for Sacrarium. And they go onto do a swift belt/mission run. Now the last time I was in a LS I hated, I made the horrific mistake of staying in it in hopes that it became better, obviously it never did. Thus my delema, Sense the seinor members are apparently looking out for their own intrests, should I go ahead and Leave the LS? Please note that I have never talked with the leader 1 on 1 and it is apparent to me that he has his friends in the LS handle things for him. Should I leave the HNMLS before things get worse?

    Re: In need of advice

IN my opinion I would try to talk things out with the leader 1st, then if things get even worse. Lave and just go look for another HNMLS, or just play to have fun. I was in a HNMLS when I was 70RDM, then they kept putting me in situations where I would end up dieing and they left me there, and no raise or anything. Now I am 68 RDM as my highest. I am currently working on MNK, but I know I just got off topic. Anyway Go talk to the leader 1st, then try to work things out that way. Usually the leader will handle things. If he says "suck it up", then that LS is not for you. You can do better. And most LS's will work around your work schedule. Take care, and safe journies.
Do what you like, like what you do, but don't hate.

Thanks for the reply, also wanted to state that even though my sig's "People Should Not be afraid of their LS, it is Their LS that should be afraid of its People." and The V symbol from V for Vendetta should have made me leave in the first place, but I take my time on my opinions and want to discuss with others who may have more experance in the areas of Bad HNMLS/Good HNMLS, Honestly I dont belive in Good HNMLSs, just Lesser Evil ones, Please continue to reply so I make more informed decisions

        Re: In need of advice

Good HNMLSs exist, but they're pretty rare and usually fairly low profile. From what I gather, there's usually 2-3 good HNMLS per server... most of the rest are usually immature and unhelpful towards their members, or at least inconsistently so.

That doesn't help your current situation much, but that's the breaks sometimes. If you're really interested in getting through the rest of CoP (which I do recommend), you might try setting up a static party for it.

As far as the LS search goes, there's a few things that the really good LSs look for; available playtime, lack of greed/selfishness, commitment, good playing skills, and at least 1 solid level 75 job (if not multiple). If you think you have what they're looking for, you might try applying there; I can say from observing most of the HNMLS on my server that it's rare that bad HNMLS ever get better, so if you don't like the LS you're in, you're probably better off leaving because it's unlikely that things will improve.

If the other players are looking out for their own intrests and not helping you, I say you look out for your own and stop helping them. It's not like you would be helping them anyway if you leave the LS, and they're bound to notice. Have a 1-on-1 talk with the leader, and if they still won't halp you, leave. Your obviously not benefiting from it, and they don't seem to care about you enought o help you.

            Re: In need of advice

No offense to anybody, certainly, for what I'm going to say here. I don't post much, but this deserves a response.

If you're in an HNM LS then you should already have these missions done. If you can't get to the NMs you want to battle then you should rethink being in an HNM linkshell to begin with. If a shell of this type is expected to move forward to equip it's members with end-game items, they aren't going to want to step backwards for every new person that joins.

That said, it's not up to anybody else to get these things done for you. Get up off your lazy behind and make your OWN linkshell event. Pick a time when no other events are happening, talk to the leader, talk to the sackholders, ask sister linkshells, get your friends together, and SET A TIME. Nobody in that shell is required to do legwork for you, stand on your own feet and organize it yourself.

I hope you get to where you want to be. Most people luck into it or have an enterprising person to lead the way for them. Sometimes you can't depend on anyone to do that. Be your own leader in your invisible linkshell of one. HOO-HAH!

(small ninjar edit: Your HNMls isn't going to fear one guy. I'm sorry, but there's so many people seeking a linkshell that already have these missions done or simply don't care that the loss of one guy who hasn't even reached 75 isn't going to make much of an impact. It's the people who are willing to take on some of the responsibility who make the linkshell sad with their loss. Take my advice and take on some of that responsibility. Your LS /will/ notice you.)

              Re: In need of advice

I'm going to make a recommendation here that's kind of annoying.

Find a group of friends that you trust to do things on time and form a CoP static. Relying on others to help you through CoP, especially if they're ahead of you, will just lead you to frustration. Set up a day and time once a week (don't do CoP too often-- it can be frustrating and expensive) and just hammer out the missions one after another with your group. You'll be done in 2-3 months tops, and your CoP experience is more likely something you can look back on with pride and warm feelings (not just a lot of frustration and broken promises).

                Re: In need of advice

Well, here's the thing. With a large group of people, the mentality is

"Hey, we can go do stuff now! Yay! ONWARD, EXCELSIOR!"

Then, there's the people that require something to be able to join in (Dynamis wins, mission wins, and so forth.) Then the mentality is:

"What? N-No, we did that already, why aren't we doing the stuff?! I gotta do this AGAIN?"

It's kind of like something in the mind goes "Well, I did it, that was painful, but at least I now never have to do this junk again!" Thus, finding help can be difficult, unless you have some benevolent souls in your LS.

What might also be occurring is the fear of becoming a revolving door LS. People joining up with the LS, requesting help on say, the O-Hat, and the instant they get theirs, suddenly, they can't be in the LS anymore, sorry, seeya! It's very difficult to remain altruistic when this happens consistantly with your LS. No serious LS wants to simply be an armoury or a training center for other HNMLSs.

Sometimes, though, leaders just forget. It's difficult being the head of an LS, and having every member /tell you things all the time can be kind of a strain. It's quite possible they simply forgot to organize something for you to join them in Sea. I recommend talking it out with your leader, and seeing what's up.

If I do leave it wont be out of spite and with me thinking "omgz when I leave they will fall apart over night". Honestly I just want to Kill HNMs and get them done. I dont want to be feared, I just dont want to "bark up the wrong tree" if this LS isent gonna assit anything but their senior members (by that I mean People with peral sacs or the shell holder, not people who have been in it a long time) and calling me lazy is just mean, Ive attempted b01 0/8 times, 4 with me as the leader and leading the PT, and the other 4 out of people shouting in Jeuno/Aht Urghan, but ill be honest, I am lazy when it comes to EXP pts

                    Re: In need of advice

I just noticed that your job levels are still in the 60s.

I'll alter my advice slightly and say: Forget endgame. Forget HNMs. Go level your jobs.

CoP/Sea/Lumoria is completely pointless if you're not level 70+, preferably 75. You can't use any of the gear that drops there (except for the reward ring at the very end, but that's not really a large enough reason to go through the 60+ missions by itself). You can't contribute in Limbus, you can't fight Jailers

Without a 70+ job you're going to be mostly useless in HNM fights, even with a level-unspecific job like RDM since basically all you can do is cast Refresh, Haste and cures while getting hit for twice as much as a level 75 player might. I have RDM at 74 and I still feel weak when fighting HNMs on it when compared to my fully merited RDM LS mates.
