Re: Does FFXI consume much bandwidth?

    FF:AC ftw!
I think I have an 80gb a month limit, but I don't pay for it. We download a lot of movi... entertainment-supplying-videos with torrents, therefore had to UP the limit.

I'm with rogers. It's like an extra 2$ a month for a buttload more gb a month, I think.

Jarre, I'm with Vodafone (US's Verizon). And some places don't support channel 5 really well, from where I am we can't even recieve it. It's a "public" TV, being in a room shared by everyone, so I don't think anyone will shell out for freeview (heck, I won't.) I'm in the UK too.

If you go to their website and lookup their "Mobile Connect Card" under "Business", I'm using the one which costs £45 (£55 something with VAT) a month. I'm actually typing this message now using that card as I type. Currently downloading updates, but I'm happy so far. Lets see how it fares in-game soon ... I'll get back here with some feedback.

Yes their the best network for PCI internet access.

Second is T-mobile where if your crafty and don't take the p**s you can use teh eband walk feature for £7.99 a month for unlimited access, though they do state not to be sued for long periods on laptops etc. Quel sham!!

Yes my friend got one while at hospital, its actually not that bad, and is faster than dialup, best advice is to get Netmeter (its free and only 600kb file) from HERE Thats what i used to get my results and you set it going before you log on the net and keeps a history of how much you have d/l & u/l .

Will be interestign to see how it works with FF, Vodaphone has one of teh best coverages for a mobile network int he Uk and their 3G service is forever expanding.

Re: Does FFXI consume much bandwidth?

          I'm ONLINE!

Basically there's 2 modes. GPRS (dial up speed but tiny bit faster) or broadband (3G/3G Broadband). 3G coverage wasn't perfect here, so I kept lagging/dropping out in the game, but GPRS was full/very high. So I used 3G to download my updates (it's fine when NOT playing the game), then switched to GPRS (after testing in 3G I decided to try GPRS) since people said the game is designed for dial up really, I had no problem. Just a little lag now and then but playable. With such a stable/strong GPRS signal, it's is better to play FFXI in that unless I'm somewhere with a strong 3G signal.

          So far so good.
