  • Where does the most new Gil come from?

Basically, with the game being about 4 or 5 years old, there's a large pool of Gil out there, divided among all the players.

But what do you think is the best way to bring in new Gil into the game?

What is the most profitable and easy repeatable quest?

What is a common drop that sells very well to vendors?

What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

i tried to see how much i could make if i only npc's things by making a new character and leveling him to level 30. at level 30 i had 14k left. if i never bought gear i would have 70k-80k. it just takes a **** load of time. you basicly got to keep doing smithing and selling >.< it sucks

Well, quite honestly, trying to bring new gil into the economy isn't a very good idea for the following reasons:

        1) It aids, however miniscule the amount, inflation, which'd make prices rise anyway.

        2) More often, selling to other people proves to be more profitable.

If you want a common drop that sells well, try beehive chips. Some bees pass them out like candy, and they're almost always in demand, either for people skilling up alchemy or for seasoned craftsmen looking to make some beeswax for their own personal use.

Of course, you could always skill up alchemy yourself and make beeswax from said chips, seeing as that's the real reason people want the chips (unless you've met an insane cook that wants to make honey.

Though really, BCNMs or NM camping are more profitable, usually.

Yeah... why would you want to bring in *more* gil to the game?

Where does the money come from?

Simple. Quests, missions and treasure chests.

Multiply that by however many people are playing and factor in time and you've got a fairly large sum of money.

In answer to the question, I was going to say "From your pocket!" and steal your gil, but "thief" apparently has a set limit on how many times you can use it on this board and I've already used it up!

Hey! You! I'm gonna get your gils!

And missions are probably the most profitable ways of creating gil, if you're a higher level and have a party that is :/ It's the highest gil reward I've seen out of all the quests althought it does take time.

I sell alot of junk after a session of xping that either doesn't sell well at AH or I don't have the slots to sell it. These things give me anywhere from like 15 gil each to a couple thousand each. It's not alot, but it adds up over time, and I imagine alot of people do the same thing.

If there was a common drop that sold very well to vendors, it would be exploited, and the economy would go to hell.

There used to be, hence the whole bot system with rusty fishing in Yugott Grotto. SE nerfed the price of selling padded caps to the NPCs. The number of rusty fishing operations died a swift death.

Quoted for truth. I've been thinking on this one a lot.

I personally beleive that NPCs (As far as vending goes) aren't a very large factor in the inflation rate, though.

                      I blame the beastmen.

You know, the ones that carry little pittances of gil?

They drop that gil to anyone who kills them, treasure hunter notwithstanding. Gilfinder increases the amount but I'm not sure by how much....anyway...

How many people on a server, at any one time, are EXPing in, say, the dunes, or the jungle, or off of shaigan, or off of yagudo in castle O, or off the new beastmen, et cetera. I know there's more places than the dunes and the jungle where people go to kill goblins wholesale.

Then how many people are FARMING those beastmen for the animal glue they drop, or the ninjitsu scrolls, or the wild onions, or the yagudo necklaces, or to try to pop a NM.

When you look at it that way, it's a pretty sizeable chunk of beastmen dying, it's 24/7 round the clock just about, and even if they only drop 100 gil each, when there's forty beastmen dying at a time that's a good solid 4k, and in five minutes when people move on and kill another one, it's another 4k, etc etc. One day later, there's a couple million new gil slyly inserted into the economy.

Gilfinder increases it by 2x. However depending on the # of people in your party it is divided amongst the people.

For a while some gilsellers were using an exploit to bring billions NEW of gil into the economy through use of an exploit and npcing. I dont know much about it or I would give more details, but all of this happened around December back when gil prices plummeted to below 7 bucks per million during the christmas rush. I believe that one patch months ago that had to do with movalpolis was the fix to the exploit.

I remember that. I don't believe it was exploit to bring gil in, but an easy way to get beastcoins with the new spawn rules.

It wouldn't matter if it was divided amongst everyone on the server, it would still be a steady gil inflow.

I'm not talking about individual wallets being fattened, I'm talking about the total sum of all gil on the server increasing.
