AFAIK, yes.

But... unless you're teetering on the brink of a Bond-triggered upgrade, with your pearl charged and ready, it's not like there's a big difference between an hour from now and "whenever there's time." One a day is pretty much one a day.

I started in the same area, with my rdm around 42 soloing on EP-DC weapons near the spine there. I tried a few tabars, and got killed a couple times myself after throwing all my mp at my poor NPC. They are just nasty.

Until you and your npcs levels are even, you can't take on even matches. The guide probably recomends tabar beaks when your NPC is 46, not when you are. Head back and check the level 30 mobs. In general, if you stick to Easy Prey monsters for you, your NPC should be ok to tank and should get full xp. Don't forget to protect, shell and haste them too. An Easy Prey for you is Incredibly Tough to them, so anything tougher will be extremley deadly. All that said, you still want to do the tanking.

You can steal hate with the time honoured whm cure bombing the tank, but that requires your NPC to get hit. Better ways are using sleep and bind assuming blm sub, also good is dispel with rdm sub. Other useful subs would be thief, you can sneak attack to steal back hate, or just sub war and provoke right back.

Your bond decreses by dropping your "Signal Pearl", but does not decrease when you drop your "Tactics Pearl".

At lvl 46 npc, Tabar Beaks are weak sauce. When you first start out you should be sticking to simple things like crabs, beetles, bees, and single bats. You don't want anything with nasty TP moves or AoE attacks. Your NPC will just get owned.

Also, don't be afraid to fight stuff that's too weak to you. Just because you don't get exp doesn't mean your NPC doesn't. Just think about the level of mobs you fought for exp when you were level 30 and go after mobs in that level range.

I'd be careful about fighting any other beastmen but quadav too. Bomb toss can make your NPC as much of an mp sink as a Skink can if you find a particularly testy gob.

I tried fighting Bees outside of Jeuno once, I couldn't really tell if they were giving my NPC exp, but she was able to kill them fairly easily. If it wasn't for the fact that I wasn't paying attention and got her 3 links at the very sametime... I think I might have actually made it to the full 15 kills...

Also, Beastmen in the same area are very very dangerous to a WHM only in her 40s >< Links are ebil.

Also, I want to ask. My WHM is about 43 now, I want to know if anyone has had any good luck in a certain area leveling their 30 NPCs? The Talon Beaks (I think it was called?) Have an AoE Silence which is deadly to me to say the least x.x Is Bees outside of Jeuno the best bet for me, or is there something I'll do better against?

Where you lvl at lvl 30 is the best for them to lvl at lvl 30

And unless your going for a full power, super optomized, 100% best exp per kill per day style, you can go fight things that would con DC to EP to your NPC and still lvl it easily. I lvl my NPC, who is in her late 40s now (46-48) on goobbues in Zi'Tah. They *can't* be higher then DCs to her as they're barely EP to me at 50.

Tactics comes with a lot of bond between you and NPC, as well a certain amount of quests with your NPC.
