Not sure if these have bene posted or not but. I was bored and started looking at my dat files. I found Virus and Break RDM BLM spells. Strange or were they the first merit point spells to be added. Can someone clear this up for me. Thank you.

Re: So ya found someting interesting
That is so sad. I wish that we could get a reflect spell of sorts and break well would like to see that in action. It says castable self so hopefully SE adds these to the players roster soon. Considering the amout of spells mobs use on use. We as the players should have the same options of spell selection."It's nice to be important, but its more important to be nice"

Re: So ya found someting interesting
They have been in game forever. Well hmmm... That stinks oh well. I love my bard. Gave up RDM for BRD and BLM leveling and havent looked back since. But will show my RDM some love after those hit the 75 marker.

I just think it would be nice to have all the traditional FF spells, though knowing they may not work exactly the same way they do in single player games.

Re: So ya found someting interesting
I was more referring to having spells that mobs do being overpowered more than the spells themselves.
I agree reflect could be both balanced and entertaining if done right.
Imagine the fun you could have in Ballista. BLM starts casting Thundaga III on Poorsandorian.
Poorsandorian casts Reflect!
BLM casts Thundaga. Windurst is pwnd

Re: So ya found someting interesting
They've been in-game forever because SE's first intent was to keep raising the level cap. When I started playing, the level cap was at 60, and was still being raised. SE had no plans to stop at 75 back then.
Spells like this were also in the .dat files then, so these could have been spells they wanted to add much later in the game's life. But level 200...?
However, on the other hand, because the level of the spell is 200, it could just be a safety precaution. Just in-case someone, somehow, got ahold of the spell, they wouldn't be able to learn it. Know what I mean?
Edit: By the way, Corsair's get a Reflect ability. Doesn't work all the time, but it still works.sigpic

Re: So ya found someting interesting
Actually, SE has traditionally kept items above level cap until they're released, like the old adaman gear, which used to be over level 80. The first time it was used was by a lv84 GM
When items are released, SE just lowers the level.
Also, if someone was able to find a lv200 scroll, they'd also have the ability to use it ;o although i'm sure that's client side, so the only way you'd find it in teh firstplace would be packet manipulation
Double Post Edited:
Etra, i'm pretty sure what you're referring to is PLD roll, which is just damage spikes.

And a LS mate told me it was just like reflect. That sucks. ;[ My Corsair isn't high enough yet to find it out on his own.sigpic

Re: So ya found someting interesting
Originally posted by FebaYes, but he's not about to share it with anyone. If something like that was released, FFXI would go from good to unplayable in 30 minutes flat.
But I don't really buy this. I doubt anyone has an "achilles heel" information because it would've been discovered and released to the general populace long before Cliff made a moral decision to not releaes such a thing (Provided he even has said knowledge in the first place)
Double Post Edited:

Re: So ya found someting interesting
I think it's already widely known in the hacker/RMT circles.
Trust me, if there was ANY decent amount of people using this, you'd know.
And Cliff, or anyone who works on windower, would never release something of that level, unless they were fully intending to kill FFXI. Not just bannings, but the abuse of the program would make it unplayable..
