He has admitted to using POS.exe. And they banned people for using movement hacks. Isn't that closure enough?

Not to mention the fact that NT already told him that the ban code is a temporary one, so he's getting all up in arms over nothing.

Alright, I just read pages 1-6, so I'm sorry if anything I say here is a repeat.

I use windower. I use it for one purpose. Talk with people on MSN/AIM while playing the game. I don't use any of the other tools on it. Hell, the only tool I know of the TP one, and I disable that. Why? It takes the fun out of the game. Yes, I know that SE says the use of any third party programs is forbidden. Though they also say "We wish for you to not let it interfer with your family and friends. (Or something like that.) I talk with my family and friends online, and if I cannot be window'd, it disrupts my ability to talk to them.

I can add more later, when I'm not going on 31 hours without sleep. ><

Zamphire: The temp ban is normaly 3 days. So wait 3 days, log in and change the address and then call SE. I thought the address they ask for is the billing address, so it should be on the credit card statment.

On the issue if people are being baned for useing the windower: I'v looked across several sites (hax0rz and other sites) and the best I can tell is that these people were banded for other programs besides the windower. It is possible that FFXI.exe does some sort of check while it is running for windower like behavor (FFXI.exe loseing focus for one) and could put up a "red flag" but if they were baning people for ONLY useing the windower, then I would bet that 75%-90% of the FFXI PC population would have been baned by now.

Also: Macht, Your correct on the whole individualizing of data thing. That was a bad example.

When you get pulled over for speeding, you know you were speeding. Do you happily take the ticket and pay the money? Or do you ask how fast you were going?

I knwo the tfirst thing I do is check the ticket to see how fast I was going.

I know how fast I'm going when I get pulled over. So I just take the ticket. This is kind of a moot point for me, as I've never recieved a speeding ticket in nearly 15 years of driving, but everyone's different.

I would like to point out that I have been pulled over a few times for it though.

Now, I can tell you that I use Windower, but it's not for any form of cheating whatsoever. In fact, it pretty much saves me anguish.

On occasion, my FFXI game suddenly just freezes. Nothing would invoke it. I even tried disabling firewalls and stuff, but that did not even help! Even worse, when FFXI froze I had to hard reset the entire PC, and go through the Windows XP repair process (The "new" scandisk). Then after logging back on, I would freeze again at times. I've lost many parties this way . Note that this happened at King Ranparre's Tomb and Lufaise Meadows/ Misearaux Coast, and any telepoint where I'd happen to press tab while staring at the telepoint....

Oh, and if you don't know what a hard reset is, it's holding the power button on your PC so it will power off--without shutting down.

Now I started to use Windower, and I was so happy. Now when FFXI freezes, I can just close the window and load FFXI back up. I'm personally in for a Windower option, as it saves my PC some hell. I would have gotten the PS2 version, but it doesn't seem to want to exist in stores anymore...

My opinion on Plugin use is that....no. No plugins, thank you.

As for the Versioning....

Xbox360 > PC > PS2. Why?
Well, let's assume that Windower did not exist.

XBox 360 has all of those loaded features. HDTV support, enhanced graphics, voice chat, IM, and SE did NOTHING to stop that. It's like having a Windower in place. And seeing how it's Microsoft XBox 360, you can bet someone will find a way to put hacks into an XBox 360.

With a PC, there were hacks even before Windower came about. And with Windower "not existing", it's rather inferior to the XBox360. No IM or chat when LFG, not to mention if it freezes....ugh.

The PS2 is at the bottom of it all. Not much to do there but weep and wait and pray that you have something to do while LFG.

Versioning is very stated. Even SE was boasting the graphics and features of the XBox360 version. (Microsoft has a requirement that every game ported to the Xbox/ Xbox 360 must have "exclusive features and content").

AGAIN (cause i've seen this stupid analogy like 12 times today) I can't install MrArgus onto my TV, therefore being able to change channels is not a concern. GET IT??

So basically what you're saying is, because you aren't smart enough to mod your PS2, that PC users should suffer because *some* of them will hack in a way that windower doesn't support or encourage.

There will always be cheaters, and you know what they say, if you make guns illegal, only criminals will have them. I mean, really, apart from the fact that if you had some modding knowledge and a bit of determination you *could* get a hacking program onto your PS2, that's completely and totally irrelevant, since PC users aren't asking to get to use MrArgus.

So you're assuming that MOST windower users are also cheating? Well that's another great way to lose credibility, if you go to their forums, not just here, there's quite a few people who enjoy windower, but not the plugins.

That's like saying, going back to cars, if the government put in a subway, people wouldn't use it because it doesn't have TVs on board.

an i use windower without the plugins. it allows me to work on 3d/animation projects, an still keep intouch with shell mates an events. if s.E made one id use theres. i could care less if the mob is 13.8 away from me, or if joe smoe refuses to use 300 tp.

macht if these ingame images of S.E, why are they still allowing gil selling sites to use them to make such huge profits. answer because they own most those sites, or a part of them..

If you hack your PS2, you can't play FFXI online because the PS2 Online service uses DNAS Authentication.

I totally disagree here. Most would happily use an official windower. Most people use it primarily for doing other stuff on the computer. AIM, MSN, winamp, browsing. If they made a legit windower most of these people wouldn't be looking around at third party stuff at all.

Maybe now some are addicted to TPparty, and would want it even should a legit windower come out, but that stems from the fact that they had to go 3rd party to get a windower in the first place if a legit windower had been made from the start, they'd of never gone to see Alzarill.

Sure some people will always want to cheat, but they will cheat even if you could remove all windowers from existance tomorrow. Giving a legit windower won't stop them, but keeping it from them won't prevent them hacking either.

But the majority given an official windower, would not need to be looking around at third party stuff at all. In that sense giving a legit windower would actually prevent a lot of people from using hacks.

Simply doing something because the masses want it is the fastest way to create a a giant pile of crap. I wouldn't trust most gamers to tell me the sky was blue.

Agreed, what gamers want is rarely what is best for the game.
