  • Re: Cheating and Stuff

speed hacking or warp hacking changes the mechanics of the game world as a whole

knowing your partners TP does not

yes they are both against the ToS but beyond that a comparison is a very slippery slope

Mechanic: Only the player of a given a character may see tier own TP without specificly sharing it.
Mechanic: You can not see the TP of another party member unless they tell you
Mechanic: You cannot see the HP% of mobs, ever

Tparty Mechanic: You may see party member TP without them telling oyu
Tparty Mechanic: You may see the HP% of a mob by targeting it

I would point out that the machnics do in fact change, but I think I've made that point...

meh... bad choice of words then. seeing your party members tp does not work around the physics of the game world as a warp hack does. maybe that's a better way of saying what I meant to say. don't get me wrong, I'm not justifying either of them, I just don't think lumping them together as the same degree of offense is a valid argument.

Ah, well, I'll agree they are both "shades of black" in terms of cheating (that is, to me they are both obvious cheat - but tparty is a misdemeanor whereas warping is a felony)

yeah, that's basically how I look at it too.

its a shame SE didn't just post everyone's TP in the first place

As i said the examples themselves are irrelivant. The point i was making wasn't about speed hacks, or TPparty. It was about different peoples point of veiw on what is fair or not.

yes you can. The number is there, in fact it has to be in order for FFXI to operate. That bar is a reflection of the HP% the server tells you your target is at. The bar IS HP%, although it's not in a number. A friend and I are able to give pretty close estimates using just the naked eye and the "T A R G E T L O C K E D" from ffxi.

Ah, I stand corrected. You are given an -approximate- HP%, not an exat HP%. Either way, its a change in the mechanic, albiet less than I implied.

No, you are given an exact HP%.

Like I said, that's the info that FFXI uses to decide how much of the bar is full.

The bar is the *exact* HP% the server tells you your target has, it's just a matter of how good you are at reading it. Windower makes it *easier*, yes, but it's not what makes it possible.

I say, good riddens to all those who quit. You failed to follow SE's rules for "their" game, so they can restrict you from playing. If you don't like the way the game is, don't play it or make suggestions to improve it. Taking matters into your own hands is just asking for trouble.

Improving on SE's horrible game design isn't a hack. They should consider making the UI worth a damn.

I would just like to take this time to point out, that everyone has done something "rule breaking" in the past, either in FFXI or in real life. Those acting like they're better or above their rest, should remember the rules they've broken in the past and ask themselves if they like being judged for something they themselves know as truely harmless.

Example, going 51 in a 50 mile zone?

Edit: All of this kind of reminds me of a debate... like one side is textbook followers and the other side would be something like...."normal" followers if you know what I mean.

I'd also like to point out that, any rule breaking in the past on the parts of those arguing against the cheating has absolutely no bearing on the legitimacy or accuracy of their judgments.

It's kind of hard to explain what I mean... but there's running the game pure, running it unpure with no intent to harm others, and then there's unpure with intent to harm others or personal gain.

Calling Case B, Cheating is kinda overkill, close minded, and blunt to say the least.

This is probably somewhat of topic, but is using the FFXI Model Viewer considered cheating in any way?
