    i'm gonna have to agree with impaction here. unless you've spent a whole week farming crystals, I don't see how you can get 100-200k with the current market prices

    Aeronus, you are in bastok, check the armor and weapon NPC shops in Markets and Mines.

          I still believe making windurst your starting nation the best way to get money.

          Bees = Beehive chips
          Crawler = Slik Thread

          Just these 2 things drop soo easily as a low level. If you only kill these creatures up to lvl 15 or so youll have stacks and stacks of silk and beehive chips and you will be rolling in gil.

            dunno what you've been doing, but the drop on silk from crawlers is horrible. I'd consider it lucky to get half a sack in 2 hours...

            not to mention their poison lasts for quite a long time. many times has bandicoot died to these cute, but deadly, critters.

              I usually could get a stack in Sarutabaruta in about 3h, it was faster in Shakhrami on the lower leveled Crawlers in there. That was my primary source of income for a long time, spend a day or two farming instead of leveling for 3-4 stacks and then live of that for a while.

              Spipi also added a little boost to that from time to time.

                Prices have dropped alot since 3weeks ago. Used to get 7-8k for fire and 4-5k for others but now theyre all 1-2k o.O Anyway all the other items are still good gils. Beehive chips are 19-25k and honey is 5k rock salt 3k. It all adds up even with the crystals for 1-2k and will pay off in the end.

                  Re: wow the auctions are expensive

                  I don't think you'd make money as a lowbie alchemy crafter making chips into wax, on Ramuh at least a stack of chips is about 17k and a stack of wax is about 40-50k

                  so 17k x3 + 12 Fire crystals + distilled water = loosing out on about 10-20k depending on which server you are on. Maybe if we were talking a higher level alchemist but a player complaining about making 2k for a onion sword will not be worrying about Tier3 on Beeswax
                  Teh Jobs - 75- nin (I spend more time at 74 =P ) / 50-pld / 55-thf (currently leveling)/ 48-rdm / 43-war / 43-rng / 35-brd / 37-blm /34-whm / 20-sam / 16-mnk

                    Re: wow the auctions are expensive

                    I'd be surprised if Beeswax were more profitable than just selling the chips on any server at this point. With the market for Silent Oil as cut-throat as it is, nobody would buy Beeswax if it were a profit synth without HQ, since anyone the slightest bit competetive in Silent Oils can HQ Beeswax.

                    If you want to level Alchemy anyway, farming beehive chips and making Beeswax isn't a bad strategy, but once you hit the cap for Beeswax, just start selling the chips.

                      Re: wow the auctions are expensive

                      Yeah, chips->wax is a harsh loss without HQ. I'm in the 51+ tier for oils, and if I buy all my materials (wax and slime), I might make a 10% profit on a good day.

                        Re: wow the auctions are expensive

                        I recently leveled thief to 15 on a character, starting in windurst. I focused on crawlers/bees and maybe made 150k by 15. I think people who claim to make tons of money leveling up are full of it. It's not like crawlers and bees drop silk/chips 100%...not even close.

                        I've come to the realization that there is no easy way to make money. I've looked at many many suggestions and they usually earn <100k per hour. When it takes my lvl 41 monk 7+ million to be equipped for her level that's 70+ hours of solid farming, not to mention all the time it takes to sell on the AH and transfer to storage characters. That's time spent not leveling, so you feel like you're not making any progress.

                        IMO the best thing to do is find a cheap class like bard, red mage, or white mage to level to 75. Then the money comes much more easily. The reason prices are so expensive on many items is because they are purchased by experienced players who have 1 or more lvl 75's already and 10's of millions of gil.

                          none of those jobs are particularly cheap unless you want to gimp your way to 75

                            Define "cheap"

                            Relative to the other jobs, bard is the cheapest job in game.

                              I agree. Only job class that can be forgiven for being slightly "gimped." And we're talking exp here, nevermind BC.

                              BTW, someone said they couldn't get anything profitable from Windy (Crystals)

                              I always get about a stack of fire, a stack of earth, a stack of wind, a stack of lightining and a stack of water when leveling my lowbie to at least 5-6 from 1. Triple that from level 5 to 10.

                              -Vultures drop fire. Goblin Thugs do to. I rather fight thugs than weavers, since I want to avoid anything with dia/poison/paralyze (Unless I'm being PL'd)

                              -Crabs and Pugils drop water.

                              -Goblin Fishers drop lightning. Plenty of them in W. Sarutabaruta.

                              -Earth is dropped by rabbits, crawlers and mandies.

                              -Wind off bees and god knows there's plenty of them. Yags drop wind too, but I'd rather pick soft targets for the same exp (Yags are usually too evasive for my tastes)

                                I'm confused what expensive gear do I need pre-70? Enfeebling torque on RDM? Oh noes. Not to mention that you greatly overstate the value of any gear a RDM/WHM/BRD might get. It's not like +5 enfeebling skill or +50 MP or +5 singing skill (or whatever gear bards go for) is going to take me from gimp to uber. I look at lvl 75 RDM and WHM gear and it's meh. OMG auto-refresh +20 mp/minute! That's soooo going to make or break my performance in a PT.
