Re: wow the auctions are expensive

Compare prices from NPC vendors vs. the Auction House.

At your level, you shouldn't need to buy expensive items from the AH. And there isn't any reason for you to buy an Onion anything right now (people buy those for a quest that you can get later on).

      Wow. This is info I could have used a long time ago. I have trouble making past 10-20k a day. o_O;
Now I suppose I can just farm stuff while LFG.

Re: wow the auctions are expensive

It's impossible to make money from crystals anymore, the newer Xbox players have flooded the market. Everybody is going for less than 3k a stack, when most went for more than 5k a stack.

You're 67 and you don't know farming fundamentals? o.o! I guess it's better to learn later rather than never.

Re: wow the auctions are expensive

Why is every thing in the auctions expensive. Im finally lv 10 and i need to upgrade my amour and stuff, and i dont even know how thats possable when its like 2,000 just for a onion sword.
Keep in mind that an onion sword isn't actually worth 2k as far as what it can do to kill stuff. It's worth that much to get higher fame in selbina by turning in Onion gear.

So, don't let it scew your opinion on stuff. Just because an onion sword is 2k doesn't mean that everything else will be equally expensive compared to usefullness.

Also, remember that because everything is expensive, that means that everything you sell is also worth more, so it works out in the end.

Re: wow the auctions are expensive

Before immediately going to the auction house, research your purchases. For example, people pay 20-25K a stack for fish mithkabobs on the auction house, when you can buy them from a vendor in Kazham for 12K a stack.

That's just one example, but there are many others. A lot of people go straight to the auction house for all their answers, and they throw a lot of gil away as a result.

Are you putting them up for more then what they have recently sold for? If the purchase history shows 2k for a stack and you put it up for 3k, chances are high that they will be returned to you. Also the chances that while the history shows 2k they may drop to 1k because of people trying to move crystals quickly.

Re: wow the auctions are expensive

Bastok is flooded with Earth Crystals. I think the more 'profitable' crystal you can get in Bastok would be Water Crytals from Quadavs and Crabs.

Stacks (12) of Grain Seeds and Bird Feathers should sell pretty good though.

Don't forget to join a guild. Some of teh items you can farm make great guild crafting items. Keep your behive chips and fire crystals as you can make beeswax, these sell for 50k a stack (3 stacks behive chips 1 stack fire crystals required) if you can't be arsed to do that beehive chips are still selling for 15k on garuda in bastok.

If you in sandy farm sheep to get sheep skin, buy low cost consumables i.e. distilled water and windy tea leaves and whalla, with tehdark crystals yu have farmed from fungar you make sheep leather. as you level up you rabbit hides can be sued for rabit mantels (you c an use one and sell rest, not a money maker as such, but helps skill up to money makers) also rabbit hides can be used in production of animal glue which makes a good amount of money, around 15-20k in Bastok AH.

How long did you wait? If you put full stacks of crystals up for a bit less than the going rate they'll usually sell pretty quickly. Anything else could take up to a few days, depending on what it is, how much is in stock, etc.

Here's how it works. When someone bids on an item, and their bid is equal to or more than the price at which anyone listed it, the AH gives them the item, and the gil goes to whoever put it up for the lowest price; if prices are tied, it goes to whoever put it up for that price first. Let's say there are three Bronze Harnesses on the AH. PlayerA put one up for 200 gil, PlayerB for 200 gil five minutes later, and PlayerC for 195 gil five hours later. PlayerD comes along and bids 200 gil. PlayerC is going to get the gil for that.

This does not mean "put everything up for a really low price." You want to go just a bit under the going rate. Enough that people aren't going to bother finding the right price. If Earth Crystals are going for 2000, I'd go for about 1910 gil. 90 gil isn't much to miss if someone does bid that much, but most people are going to try 1900 then skip right to 2000.

Also, hardly anybody buys single crystals. For the most part, anything that sells in stacks, you want to sell in stacks. There are a few exceptions, but not many.

or if you dont like farming in southern san doria there is a merchant selling a fishing rod for 238 gil and little worm for 10-12 gil each, buy a stack or two of little worms and a fishing rod and go fish in Northern sandoria to get moat carp, a stack of moat carp is worth 10k and it should take you about 15 min to get a stack of moat carp, have fun.

You will notice a green dot on the image of Beastmen Seals. If you look closely, you will see that this green dot says "Ex." This means that the item is Exclusive to your character, and can not be sold, sent, or traded to any other character. Some Ex items can be sold to shops, but not Beastmen Seals.

Do not throw any more of them away. Ever.

They are used for BCNMs, which are level-capped fights against specific monsters. Sort of like a boss/arena fight. BCNMs are the source of some of the most expensive gear and spells in the game, and can be a fantastic source of income once you're of the appropriate level/job and can get enough people together for them.
