How do you guys get by storing all of your gear?

As a level 43 rdm, 24 blm, 23 drg, 17 war, 12whm, 8mnk, all of which i'm leveling actively in some capacity. This means i'm needing to have 6 sets of gear (including the set for rdm which has int/mnd/convert/solo setups and therefore consist of about 25 peices.) I've also got a 30 cap set of gear for rdm for prommy/ballista.
    I also craft.

I've done GB up to 50 slots, and moghouse up to 60 (i'm working on the fame for the next one). I have one mule. My delivery box holds about 10-15 items at any time.

I takes an age loading things onto/off of my mule. Send 8, empty box, send another 8, empty box again.
This is exttra labourious when you have a delivery box full of gear you need to sort past every time.

If i need anything quickly it can take forever, freeing up space for the gear, (and finding somewhere to put it all) then gathering the stuff i need together from the mule, delivery box and mogsafe.
    Rare/ex just comlicates things.

I do use storage for those items i can, but because i'm not always in Windy, i need my gear for RDM, DRG, BLM (and soon WAR i guess) stored where i can reach it, even if i am in Jeuno.

So any hints? Is there an easier way to get stuff on off a mule?

Re: Storage problems - any hints?

Being a WHM with all the teleports helps, as Bastok usually controls someplace with a convenient outpost, so I can get back home to access my storage quickly. Not this week though.

I've done all the gobbie bags (60 inventory), and the first two mog safe quests. This is enough to hold my gear for WHM50, BLM38, and RDM/SMN20s, Promy gear, plus meds and food and a couple crafting things. My mog safe is mostly full of Taru-taru stools for Moghancement: Desynthesis with overwhelming lightning energy. I have maybe ten spaces to play with without having to mule or dip into storage. Most of my armor for DRG32 is Centurion's gear, so I just got the one piece I don't actually use and put the whole thing on an armor storer.

I also have three mules, one in each starting city. Ellipses is a 66 cook (3k points from chef hat, yay!), so he doesn't really hold much other than cooking ingredients & results. Octothorp holds crystals, gear I'm not using but don't want to sell yet (RSE), meds and food, and sheep leather. Obelus holds everything else (my own partial crafting results and ingredients, random drops, etc.). Octothorp also has quite a bit of storage from water jugs (cheap in Rabao).

Mostly I've just learned to make firm decisions about what I'll be doing the next time I play, and prepare for it as much as I can. I'll have a big 15-30-minute session of sending stuff back and forth at the end of a night, and at the beginning. That's usually enough to get me ready for whatever I'll be doing. If I change my mind, I just deal with having to mule for several minutes again.

Toughie. I tend to play certain jobs up to a point (say if it's a sub I'll level it to a target point high enough to play the main for a while). I can then sell / shift the gear to my mule and not worry about it for a while. I use my mog locker in Aht Urghan to store rare/ex stuff that I'm not using and don't need to access often.
If you want to play a variety of jobs at once though I guess you;ll just have to put up with it though.

The mog locker update that will let you access it from anywhere is going to help a ton. I can't wait.

Well, as a BRD (~15 instruments + CHR vs. skill gear) and a BST (Charm vs. Melee gear + jug pets), I found it necessary to get all gobbie bags (60 slots) and full mog house upgrades (80 slots).

On top of all this, I have 5 mules:
            Jeuno – Alchemy Supplies Mule
            Bastok – Goldsmithing Supplies Mule
            Windhurst – Cooking Supplies Mule
            2 in San d’Oria – 1 Crystal/Gear Mule and 1 Gear Mule

Plus, a benefit of at least one mule per major city is access to every AH and regional vendor.

Finally, with any full armor sets (e.g. BRD AF, Seer’s +1, etc.), I like to store them on the NPC’s.

I suggest narrowing your focus for a while. Put one or two of those jobs on hold for a bit. NQ equipment can be sold now, and bought back later without too much trouble.

I have 60 pack slots, 80 safe slots, 21 storage slots, and 50 mog locker slots. And I'm still utilizing all of it when it comes time to craft. What I do is stick my secondary job stuff (BST gear) in my Mog Locker. It's a lot faster to travel to Whitegate (which won't even be necessary after the update) than to trasnfer a full delivery box 3 times from my mule.

If a trip to and from Whitegate is too inconvenient for you, you could try buying a bunch of water jugs in Rabao to create max storage space. I don't remember what the max storage space you can get was though. I think it's 60.

My wife makes great use of the storage NPC. She limits herself to only buying full sets of gear and the NQ version of them because the NPC wont store HQ. To me this doesn't help any because I rarely use a full set of gear, and I try my best to get HQ, just thought I'd throw this out there.

I feel your problem though because I have the same problem. 60 inven, 80 mog house, 50 mog locker, 10 storage and I'm constantly packed, I think I have maybe 10 free slots total out of all that.(75BRD [~15 instruments], 75WHM[staff for each element], 60COR [stack of card for each element /sigh], 40NIN[trying to get PCC from the BCNM so have all tools and gear], and leveling 42 RDM keeps me full) I just do my best to deal with it. One thing that will help is in the next update they are making it so you can acess your mog locker from any mog house, not just Aht Urghan.

Re: Storage problems - any hints?

If you have trouble affording the beds for the Mog Safe expansions, ask some trusted friends if they want to share the cost with you and then pass the beds around. Chances are some of your friends need those expansions, too. (Then sell the beds back when everyone's done.)

Leave your less-used items (like holiday items) either with the Event Storage NPC or in your personal Storage. Don't store more than 8 items needed for a specific job on your mule. This way you'll only need to log onto your mule once. For example, store 8 RDM items, 8 BLM items, 8 DRG items, etc on your mule. Keep everything else in your Mog Safe or on your person. When you change jobs, your mule only needs to send up to 8 items to the main char.

You'll want to be careful about leaving things uncollected in your Delivery Box. If SE needs to make an update to the Delivery Box and AH systems, you'll want to remove them asap. Use the Del Box "storage" only for items that aren't that hard to replace.

I'm like you in that I play a lot of jobs. I level WHM, BST, NIN, PLD, BRD, RDM regularly, and recently started messing around with MNK and RNG. XD

In addition to a maxed out safe/inventory/locker, I have two mules who's only purpose in life is to hold gear. Together they have about 140 weapons and various pieces of armor. I have to use a spreadsheet to keep things straight... The upside is, I am glad to lend stuff out to my close friends, so when they're leveling sub jobs and stuff, often I have nearly a full set of equipment laying around somewhere for them.

what balfree said. stop leveling 6 jobs at once. if you dont want to stop leveling those 6 jobs, get more mules. i have 4 mules myself.

1- crystals whore, only holds crystals
2- misc items whore, holds stacks and partial stacks of items that will be sold later
3- armor whore, holds all my other jobs gear
4- leatherface, holds my leathercraft supplies

i also have 80mog house spaces, 60 inv spaces, 30mog locker spages and 38 storage spaces.

storage helps a bit for all that junk you never ever really use but dont want to throw away.
get some cabinets, they usually run around 20k and they give you 4 storage spaces for 1 mog safe space.

                      anyhow, gl.

Re: Storage problems - any hints?

I have gear for SMN, WHM, MNK, BLM, WAR, RNG, PLD, THF, DRK, BRD and BST. As well as level capped gear from 75 to 30 for WHM and SMN, 59 to 30 on BLM, and down to level 30 for RNG. Also with a hMP gear set on WHM and SMN, and a soloing/tanking gear set on MNK. Plus fishing gear/rods and crafting supplies. As well as random half sets of gear. (I seem to have everything needed for SAM too, except a great katana. Same goes with NIN.)

I used to only hold two full sets of gear at a time, but mog locker came out and I had a place to put all my too important to drop rare/ex items (random AF2, optical hat, opo-opo crown, etc). I currently have four full sets of gear on me, only because I've been leveling WAR before it gets to gimp levels...

How do I handle it without going insane? I use gear that can be used on multiple jobs when I can. Almost all of my accesories on SMN are also used on my WHM (except for one ring). Some of my equipment on MNK can/will be used on other melee jobs of mine.

I also go slightly gimp on level cap stuff, when it means a minor difference in stats without me having to buy new items... Like I wear mithra RSE feet that has no mage stats on it over garrison feet with +1 INT on level cap stuff for BLM because I don't feel like spending that much money for 1 INT and one less inventory space.

I seperate the stuff I have on mules, to help me organize it. One mule holding full sets of equipment. Keeps me from having to search all my mules for one piece of gear.

For the most part, it's easier to just sell the cheap armor you have on a job and rebuy it when you take it up again. I just got in the habit of holding onto full sets of armor because of CoP. One day I'd go help people do something as a level 50 BLM, then the a level 40 RNG. Then maybe a 60 MNK the next day.

Edit-forgot to mention a couple things:
I make and then use cabients on my mules. They help me not have to make another mule. Also, I have 60 inventory space, 80 safe, and 50 in locker. The inventory space increases get more and more important as you get higher level on any job.

Re: Storage problems - any hints?

I'm now working on my third level 75 job, with 60 inventory, 80 mog house, 30 mog locker, 35 storage, plus three mules.

If I didn't craft or fish, I'd be more than fine; I generally toss all my currently "offline" jobs like BLM onto mules and the armor storage NPC.

When I'm crafting though, things get VERY packed. At that point I do what I call "delivery juggling" (WARNING: Don't do this with anything really important or expensive - you have been warned!!):

To "juggle" an item in your delivery box, go to the AH, and Deliver an item to yourself. Go to your Mog House and check your delivery box; this clears the items out of your AH delivery slots. Go back to the AH, and Deliver more stuff to yourself.

Now go back to your Mog House, and select all the items in your Delivery Box and select "Return to Sender". This puts them back in the queue, but "behind" the ones at the AH. Send stuff back to yourself until the items you just sent from the AH show up (thus clearing your Send Box).

This is extremely dangerous if you are prone to making typing errors; it's not terribly difficult to accidentally Discard items you juggle in this way if you aren't paying attention, so don't do this with anything worth tons of money, or stuff you simply cannot replace.

Well, I'm leveling a lot of jobs at once as well. I have five mules spread out across Vana'diel, and I have done all of the Gobbiebag and Moghouse Inventory Upgrade quests (so 60 bag slots and 80 Mog House inventory slots). Even then I often run out of room on my main - hence the five mules.

What I try and do is level things in sections. I level all of the jobs that will use a particular set of gear to the point where they would exchange that gear for something else, and then I sell it forever. Then I go back to level the jobs that use a different set of gear, wash, rinse, and repeat. It works out pretty well.
