When I'm crafting though, things get VERY packed. At that point I do what I call "delivery juggling" (WARNING: Don't do this with anything really important or expensive - you have been warned!!):

To "juggle" an item in your delivery box, go to the AH, and Deliver an item to yourself. Go to your Mog House and check your delivery box; this clears the items out of your AH delivery slots. Go back to the AH, and Deliver more stuff to yourself.

Now go back to your Mog House, and select all the items in your Delivery Box and select "Return to Sender". This puts them back in the queue, but "behind" the ones at the AH. Send stuff back to yourself until the items you just sent from the AH show up (thus clearing your Send Box).

This is extremely dangerous if you are prone to making typing errors; it's not terribly difficult to accidentally Discard items you juggle in this way if you aren't paying attention, so don't do this with anything worth tons of money, or stuff you simply cannot replace.

Oh wow this is cool. I didn't even know there was a return to sender option on delivery box.

So, how many items can you have in queue? I can really make use of this, thanks (also, my first rate-up ^_^... edit: hmm, guess you can't just rate a reply...anyway, thanks a bunch). I don't think I'll try this with any high priced stuff, but I have so much junk taking up space that I don't want to get rid of or just haven't gotten around to selling.

I do that sometimes with items that I don't really want to mule, but that I don't want to carry around on myself (food and ammo items mostly).

Trying to figure out in my head how exactly that works, but it sounds like you could temporarily drop off 24 items (3 sets of 8 items). First set gets received, send the next set, return the first set and check again to receive next set. Send 3rd set. (Is that how it works Icemage?)

It is confusing, but it seems to me that you can have an infinite amount in queue.

          Like:

          Send 1st set

Go back to mog, your set shows up (which clears your send box). I think, at this point, you return them to sender (effectively using your mog house as another delivery box).

Go back and send 2nd set.

Go to mog. I think 1st set will be there, return those to sender again, then 2nd set shows up, and return those too.

          Repeat forever, right?

I've read that there is a hard limit to the number of items you can have queued up like that. I think it was in the neighborhood of 60 or so. I don't know how it was tested though. So I don't know if you simply start to lose anything past that, or if the game simply refuses to deliver anything further at that point.

I've queued around 100 items before, so I don't know what sort of test was used because I know it's wrong. I know this because I queued up about 2 week's worth of fishing in Sea Serpent Grotto for Grimmonites to make Tavnazian Tacos for my cooking mule, so I was juggling over 100 of them in between my main and my mule.

So anything you directly send gets qeued in front of anythin you "return to sender"?
I didn't realize that, thought the "return to sender" items went in front of everything but the stuff already sent. Good to know.

Yes. They get queued in whatever order they're either Sent or Returned. Of course, after a while, even this trick stops being very convenient, unless you're in one of the nicer towns where the moogles are near the AH and don't require zoning (Tavnazian Safehold).

Re: Storage problems - any hints?

OKay i've sorted things out a bit...

                    i've created another mule.
i've cleared out my delivery box (as i say i was using the trick to store about 20 items)

warning: be careful when useing the delivery box trick. i've now realsed that was what was making everything so awkward. every time i wanted something off a mule i had to return 20 items to sender, if i wanted more than 8 items from my mule, i had to return 40 items to sender. This quickly become very time consuming (especially when you remember that the delivery box has a request delay on it so returng 20 items to sender can take ages)

My RDM stuff (main and level cap) is in my mogsafe, everything else armour is on one mule, my crafting gear is on another.
It's gonna take a bit of discipline to keep things organised, but should deffinately speed stuff up in the long term.
Thanks for the hints everybody. I was in a real mess. It took me about 2 hours and a lot logging out/in to sort everything out. But at least now i can be ready for what ever in quick time.
I should also be able to relativly quickly empty my GB so i can get some proper crafting done, something i havn't be able to do in ages.

There are reasons for the amount of jobs i'm leveling, DRG and RDM are my 'mains' and while they are on hold levlling wise pretty much they are still what i use for events. WHM, WAR, and BLM are subs and thats where a lot of my leveling focus is at the moment. My girlfriend has just started playing so to thats why i'm levling MNK as well, to pretty much static it with her.

Hopefully shortly my WAR will catch up with my DRG meaning i can share a set of gear for them. My WHM will catch my BLM and they both match my level cap gear for RDM. There is a plan in there somewhere i just think it got a little lost (i think i found it behind 23 items in my deliverybox).

Nakti, i like the idea of only shipping out 8 items from any one job to a mule, not possible right now for me i think but, i'm gonna try and keep it in mind for when i have a little more space, (i.e when i finally get enough fame to trigger this bed/mog lockers become accessable everywhere)

I also plan on upping my storage (and getting my damn manquinns at last >.<) but in order to get this to work propely theres a few outposts i still need badly. I'm just waiting for windy to take these places, then i can set my home point there pretty much all of the time. Until that time Jeuno is just often more convenient, which means that i've got to keep things in my main safe.

Re: Storage problems - any hints?

Step 1: Get your full compliment of Mannequins.

They are truly a godsend for the packrats among us (like me for example - I'ma hideous packrat).

Step 2: Upgrade all your storage/gobbiebags/locker to the max.

That'll take your storage problems down another notch.

Step 3: Make a mule - and do the same.

It's time consuming, but if you like playing two chars, this will alleviate many many problems further down the line.

                      Step 4: Spreadsheet your gear/consumables.

If you're like me (and can't bear to part with shinies, and don't buy NQ gear), getting gear sorted out will help you no end.

Try and keep your mules very specific, with crafting mats on one, consumables (meds/food/ammo etc) on another, equipment on a third.

Step 5: R/E storage. Put all your R/E event stuff onto the storage NPC's littered about. While you might like to keep your Goldfish Bowls and Lotus Katana on hand at all times... or rather don't want to get rid of them... keeping them around doesn't help you much in the space department.

Step 6: Sell everything you won't need quickly to make more space. Part stacks of stuff aren't worth keeping most of the time unless they are particularly valuable. Also - farm up your rare stacks and sell/craft them and sell on.

Step 7: Organise your gear into storage desirable and safe desirables.

For example - if you tend to use a set of 30 cap gear for eventing - leave that in storage, and keep your main gear in safe. Travelling back to your home city and OP Warping is a more efficient time saver if you know where your gear is and when you'll need it. I personally keep 2 job's gear on my main storage, Thf current + War 30 cap (for ENM/Promy), my 20 cap Drg Garrison gear in Windi Storage - as I'll always be heading through Windurst to go to Garrison anyways.

Step 8: Make a list of every item you *need* to keep, and those which are less desirable and/or superfluous. Ditch the crap. Be ruthless about it, and ignore the initial pain of parting with nice items. No point keeping stuff that isn't going to help you, unless you've got a really really strong sentimental reason to keep it.

Re: Storage problems - any hints?

I level every job, and one thing I've learned is to level all jobs simultaneously on one set of gear. For example, every job that can use Leather armor was leveled to ten, where I stopped leveling with that gear, sold it, and will purchase a set of Scale armor to use to carry those jobs into their next set, whatever that may be. A lot of jobs, up until level 30, share the same gear sets. This also keeps the game fresh, to the point that if I get sick and tired of one job, I can switch to another of the "leveling set" (as I call it) and get some experience on it.

Leveling jobs this way and keeping gear sets organized takes a little bit of, well, organizing, so you might want to check out the AH and figure what job wears what gear, and at what level they get new gear, so you can stop each job at that set level. (For example, jobs wore Bronze until 7, when Leather became available, with the exception of Monk, Samurai, and Ninja, which wear the Kyahan set (or whatever it's called) at 8.) For the most part, jobs wear similar sets of armor and you will level them simultaneously, but some jobs will start to break off. Only WAR, PLD, and DRK can wear Chain armor - I think - so you will have to follow different stopping points for different jobs. I actually have a chart of what job wears what gear and at what level, to help me see when I can quit leveling that job for the time being.

I also carry my gear for my main job (RDM) and for my two main subs (BLM and WHM), but with most of the gobbie bags done and the MH expansion, and a pretty decent amount of storage, I have a decent amount of space. I also have three mules: A crystal mule (I never sell crystals, I know that at some point I will be able to use them.), A gear mule (which is where that lower level gear and subjob gear goes if I want to spend time on crafting. Also, any level cap gear I have goes to this mule), and a "random crap" mule, who keeps all the items (non rare/ex) that I might need for quests or crafting but won't need in the near future.

Seriously, though, I would suggest if you're going to level a lot of jobs, save yourself the hassle and level all the jobs that wear the same type of gear at the same time. This way, you don't have Bone gear for your Warrior, the Tunic set for your Summoner, the Doublet set for your thief, the Bronze set for Dragoon, the Leather set for Paladin, and your set of main gear for your Black Mage main, or whatever, and the Seer's set for when you do level 30 cap stuff. (Just an example). It's also more gil-efficient, in the long run, to only ever have to buy one of each set.

2 accts & 2 boxing ftw. Trading 8 items at a time from one character to the other takes a load off my shoulders. This enables me to level 3 different jobs in the same day while minimzing downtime for muling. I have a virtual 200+ storage slot when I do this between two main characters...

There have been a few maintenances where they clear everything in your delievery box. I remember seeing atleast one instance where they warned of you having anything in those queues cuz they would have been erased.

Well as far as the question of how to keep it all in order. What I had done is my Main has gear priority, the other jobs I've leveled equally and seek out universal type gear that encompases some sort of use for all the other jobs.

Not easy to do, but still can find sets of gear that are good for all mages or sets of gear that is good for all melee's. Gear set ends up being half what I would of needed. The other jobs arn't that badly gimped either, just the right food and they are generally in par with the jobs with good gear and not using foods.

It'll get tricky to do that though the closer you get to like lv. 40 or so on all the jobs.
