I usually Haste, Dispel, and fight over people trying to Raise people. When I do that I always get 700EXP/IS. I can't seem to land a decent Blizzard III so I just gave up. I swing my Sword sometimes, but it's usually a waste of time. I either can't hit it, or I can't do enough damage to build any TP.

I went as SAM42 once, did absolutely 0dmg, only landed like 5 hits, each one doing 0dmg, died 4 times, and I got 120EXP/IS I believe. My Sneak Attack Enpi macro wouldn't work with all the lag. Sneak Attack would go off, but Enpi wouldn't, and then the mob would run away.

So seems the key is to Haste, Dispel, and Raise, and you're golden. I still have like 6k IS just sitting there, and I haven't EXP'd in any of the Empire areas in quite a while. So it's a good way to get coins, and buy maps if you haven't done so already.

Here's a question, does the level of the mobs attacking affect the potential experience gain? The other day we had a level 1 Besieged and I got exactly 300 xp, and I thought I used myself to the fullest ability. Does anyone know if all Besiegeds, regardless of level, yield 700 xp or if level affects it?

Level effects it, I've got 300 from a level 1 before as well and tonight I got 500 from a level 3. From that I'd assume that 2=400 4=600 and you get the full 700 only from level 5.

Let's see....since my main is black mage, I'm basically throwing cures on the generals and random people. In the end, I didin't get much, maybe 100 experience, at most.

I died 3 times today and still got 700 exp 700 IS, so I don't think death has much to do with it.

Depends. I know several people who've died and got raised just seconds before the event was over and got a big fat zero for their efforts before dying. Ditto for those who D/C'd a lot (In those cases, they got partial rewards)

My guess was that you were able to at least get a hand in a few more mobs after your 3rd death before the event was declared done.

Besieged level determines maximum exp, but does not determine what you're getting within that range. It's participation that mostly affects this, as SE will not want people to get 100% reward for just AFK'ing in a corner for the whole event. (And yes, I've seen a few scumbags do this)

The many other times I did besieged I did them mostly to skill up dark (that's pretty much how I look at beseiged, one big skillup session on really hard mobs that are not likely to turn to attack you lol).

I would do 2 elemental seal blizzard III's for about 80-90 damage, and the rest of the time I just spammed bio to lvl dark. And I got 700.

When you zone (Home point, tractor also count!!) you lose your EXP/IS bonus, which usually happens when someone dies and doesn't take a raise.

Alternatively, sitting around waiting for weakness cuts into their time to get to max points.

I know i've gotten exp after a besiege while DEAD, so that isn't it.

But after the last besieged I was in, I can't...

Basically got caught by 3 Mijin Guijre's during a Besieged hit... each of which did somewhere around 4K damage per person it hit.... After I'd get raised, I waited for weakness to wear off... and a few more 'whiffs' and occasional hits (66 MNK)... Another Mjijn... and another raise and another weakness wait. (even when I was trying to avoid the NIN type critters)

By the end of the 3 deaths and such, I still managed to get 680XP out of it... and I spent more time resting for weakness than I did fighting. (maybe it was a burp in the XP-equation or something, but only one other time did I get that close to max XP, and that was a troll-run where I actually never died, but was runnig around as BRD healing and debuffin'.)

If you die, wait for a raise rather than HP. If you HP it takes all your XP build-up away and you start again (if you can zone in at all). If you get a raise it seems you keep all your XP build-up.

Just hope and prey you don't get a DC, which wipes all you've done until that point. I'm so fed up with the crashing DC that happened sometimes in Besieged. My wife and I run identical computers, dual core AMD 4800+, 2GB RAM, ATi 1800 XT graphics cards etc. During Besieged we get very little slowdown and the computers handle just about anything thrown at them (there is still a bit of network lag though which can't be helped, we're on a 10Mb cable line so its the latency to Japan from the UK).

But even with our uber machines, we get dumped out to POL during besieged, and only in besieged (the game has never crashed like that anywhere else). When this crash happens it does it to one of us first, and then we KNOW it will happen to the other one. It's almost as if the server code has a bug which transfers onto another player once its crashed out an existing player. It seems to happen more when there are less ppl in Al Zahbi, as the other day when only 350 ppl where there almost all the players in our 18 alliance crashed out the same way, all at different times. Each party member ended up being the leader at some point to re-invite the crashed players.

I hope this is one that is fixed in the update, as crashing out after spending 30 mins+ to build up your 700 XP and IS points is not amusing.

Last besieged I did.. I died at least 5+ times and just followed my PLD friend around curing/hasting/raising him. Don't remember if I did flash or dia 2/diaga on the mobs, but got full 700exp/IS and dinged level 50 :D

On the other hand, another WHM friend of mine cured/raised/died and HPed each time they died during the same besieged and only got a piddly amount of exp/IS.

I didn't say it was IMPOSSIBLE to get max points if you wait for weakness, I said waiting cuts in on your time to get to it. Ignoring the fact that you got EXP for taking damage (I actually got 200EXP for going AFK and dying once).

I got full exp on Trolls as THF. I just ran around hitting a few mobs then going to another one for a bit, then the last 10 minutes I started jumping in on kills. When I'd just fight 3-6 mobs to the death I only got 400exp so I'm thinking diversity in the mob type, or hits on x ammount of mobs may be the key.

the max xp gained depends on the lvl of mob that attack

Lvl 1: 300
Lvl 2: 400
Lvl 3: 500
Lvl 4: 600
Lvl 5: 700

I usually just heal/buff peeps. I only use Dia 2 on the mobs.

Well, finally got the first staging point done so I can finally get xp when I do Besieged. Came back and the Trolls were about to attack. One thing I've noticed, mobs in Besieged have very little HP, but a helluva lot of evasion and defense. At lvl 55 with capped archery I was hardly connecting at all, and when I did it was usually 0 damage with a cpl for 20 and 40 dmg. I used EES and hit it for ~220 damage. It may have been lag or just weird timing, but that one EES dropped what looked to be around 1/5 of its total HP. Anyway, just that little bit was enough to net me 350 xp. I figure once I reach a reasonable level for Besieged, it should be much easier to reach max xp.

It can't be just based on damage, because 220 is more than I've ever done in beseiged (and I've gotten 700 every single time that I haven't d/ced). And I don't cure all that often, besides myself. Maybe your lvl factors into how much you get, and also maybe by just performing actions you get points.

Like most things Final Fantasy, SE is unlikely to say for sure (besides, people would just exploit it if we knew for sure).
