I really hope this was not intentional on SE's part.

Of course, it has happened to me before in Kuftal Tunnel.
    The Recipe:
    1 Disgruntled Red Mage.
    1-55 Pissed off Robber Crab(s).
    1-6 Ordinary Clueless Party Members.
1 Sleep Spell of your choosing.

Aggro one Robber Crab and run past a party. Sleep it and zone (or stand by). Come back in and watch the fun! 1-6 Ordinary Clueless Party Members will be mauled and mangled by the Pissed off Robber Crab(s). After the Robber Crabs deal with the Clueless Party Members, sit down and enjoy a tasty summer treat of Mauled MPK'ed Adventurers!!!

Actual results may vary. If you have an allergic reaction to dead adventurers, consult your doctor before trying this meal. Not responsible for any angry /tells, /says, or /shouts. Do not use near an open Black Mage Fire spell. People who have high cholesterol should not eat Mauled MPK'ed Adventurers. Results may vary.

All we have to wait for now is their Christmas Sale...
This can't happen anymore as the crab will depop when you zone. That was the point of the whole anti MPK patch. This 'new' form of MPK isn't new at all. You DoT a slept mob with a low hate ability and it will attack the people that slept it. Being Dia'd it can't be slept again and the pt will fight multiple mobs at once. This method has been around forever, but now that dia doesn't claim mobs in this situation you actually stand a fighting chance.

As for taking out IGE, if they could be sued, by anyone, it would have been done LONG ago. FFXI isn't the first MMO to deal with them and sadly it won't be the last. Corporate politics and legal loopholes keep IGE and companies like it running. Most Gil Sellers have no direct affiliation with companies who sell gil, rather they're just the ones who provide these companies with the gil. Most Sellers are 'free-lance' or work for small companies that just make the gil and sell it to companies like IGE. They're not 'employees' they're paid on commision depending on how much gil they provide.

                      Haha.

I think the way it works, Jei, is that if you get a link, and try to sleep it, it doesn't work because the monster has Dia on it.

They get you when you sleep a link. It goes unclaimed, they throw dia on it and you can't resleep. But since Sleep causes more hate then dia it's still going to attack your party. It's an old method which is actually much easier to deal with now then before. Pre update if someone dia'd a slept mob it would still attack the sleeper, but the one who used dia would get claim thus you couldn't fight back in any way.

Genis -- Character in Tales of Symphonia, Gamecube RPG by Namco... which I really need to finish. Features the voice talents of... ah... guy who plays Robin in Teen Titans and Cam Clarke/James Flinders (Liquid Snake, various other talents).

And yah, if a group gets links and does a sleepga, they'll get hate from all affected mobs, but because you can only really focus on one mob at a time, the other mobs will be unclaimed, yet still have enmity towards the sleeper. MPKer comes along and casts low level dia, causing DoT on slept mob, and it goes after whoever it has the most hate with, and dia preventing any further sleep attempts, leaving the target helpless to take the beating, thus eliminating him, and then onto the other party members.

That's doesn't seem to be entirely true. I know it was that way for a while, but Jei was just telling me last night how somene trained a huge group of orcs and died on top of him while he was fighting an NM, and instead of depopping they all linked with the NM. They should have despawned when their target died, but possibly because of an weird interaction with the newer MPK changes, you can't count on that anymore.

I'm not too sure, but I think that certain mobs will link with a similar type mob rather than simply despawn. I think I saw one occurrence of it, but I'm not sure. I think the example I saw was with crabs in either Boyahda or Kuftal. One group was fighting a crab, and someone had trained more to the zone, and instead of despawning, they immediately linked with the other crab.
