Bear in mind, this was in a totally different coffer hunting environment than we have today. Pretty much everyone already has their AF these days, getting keys is a breeze, and so is finding coffers. Getting the Garlaige Citadel Coffer today is as easy as finding 3 level 75s to go in there with you while you sneak around and open doors systematically.

When it happened to me, there were no less than 5-6 people hunting for coffers in Garlaige at all times, and it could literally take hours to even spot a coffer because they were being opened constantly.

In this case, it happened on my third visit to Garlaige to try and find the coffer (yes, three failed attempts to get the coffer, over 3-4 hours each).

I definitely get that. I'm just saying that while it was probably really frustrating (I got my first AF back in early 2004, and there was a lot of competition then, so I understand), that doesn't mean that the guy didn't have a right to the coffer too. Bad form on his part, but I can see both sides.

OT: but I don't understand what people have against GC coffers, I've gotten 3 AFs there (WHM RDM BST) and all 3 took me under 2 hours to get coffer...

I don't really get it either. I did both WHM and PLD in there (and will likely have to do at least one if not two jobs there again), and it really wasn't that bad. I'll take Garlaige over Castle Oztroja (from back in the day) or Castle Zvahl Baileys any day.

I've been trying to get my Garlage Citadel key ever since my mid-fifties, which is a little shy of half a year, since my leveling almost stopped post-55 (and for related reasons, no less, although I've gotten around them now and I'm levelling again).

My problem is I simply cannot for love, money, or boobs get anyone to help me with GC coffer keys. Everyone agrees "Oh yes we need to get Iris her condom hat..." and everyone agrees to do it "later".

Six months later...here I sit, the only whitemage I know whose charging down the home stretch into endgame without her full AF.

At this late date, I've simply stopped asking for parties (although I faithfully join every other party I can find, in hopes that one will decide to stay together for "just one more, please....?"). The hat isnt' that great, and at some point in time I'll be able to solo it. I won't need to be able to put my AF in storage until I"m up near 75 anyway.

Recently a LS member was trying to get her BLM AF in Eldieme. She spotted the Coffer, ran up to it to trade, but it told her she wasn't close enough. As she stepped in, and started the trade, a PLD75 ran up, traded the key, and got a useless item that sells for about 2k on the server. She finished the trade only to see the "this coffer is empty."

We were completely flabbergasted that somebody would do this, but a Lv.75 person?

When I was working in my Coffers, some of them provided me a means to solo skill up a weapon and/or Enhancing Magic. I spent 3 hours patrolling three Coffer spots in the Citadel, and Skilled Sword and Dagger about 30 skills each while I waited. It's when I did coffers as other jobs that it was a real pain. Having to go to Castle Vhazl Bailey as WAR/RDM sucks. I think I bit the dust 3 times there. Once to the Duke when I finally found the damn Coffer. But my RDM coffers were all pretty easy.

See, that? It just shitty behavior. There isn't anything in an Eldieme Coffer that is worth cutting a person after their AF off for. Well, maybe the Vile Elixer +1. But even then? Not worth it.

See, that? It just shitty behavior. There isn't anything in an Eldieme Coffer that is worth cutting a person after their AF off for. Well, maybe the Vile Elixer +1. But even then? Not worth it.

Hell, even then a VE+1 is only about 200k on our server now! Either way that was wrong on so many different levels. She's been having a helluva time getting that coffer too.

Eh.. the floppy hat isn't really all that and a bag of chips now that there's Crow/Raven gear.
