It's not a sterotype. NA did bring in companies like IGE and such to the table. There was none before them.

Yar, and JP's ran some funny fishing bots too that NA didn't.. and...

No.. enough with the stereotyping. It's BS. There are good players and bad players. IGE is for the West, the East have their own versions if you'd bothered to check. They do R/E stuff as well, like RMT Joytoy's and the like.

      RMT exists on all sides.

        (1) You're UK. How long have you been playing the EU client?

        (2) This game is about 4 years old starting out in Japan, give or take a few months.

        (3) NA players have been playing for at least a year longer than any EU Client player, barring any import players.

This should answer your questions. The JP players have played this (Collectively and figuratively) far longer than most NA players and definitely longer than all but ten or fifteen EU importers.

On aQuarium, our leader is JP. A few members are European players that have a good grasp on the japanese language. They're not Japanese living abroad in Europe. They're European players. I'm the third "NA" player in this "Japanese" LS.

IGE didn't magically spring into existence when NAs started playing FFXI. RMT for MMOs has been going on globally for years and years. But hey, nice random statistic there.

          On Topic:

There is a definite difference in how JP and English Speaking parties operate in a general sense. I wish that more NA/EU/Whatever parties grouped up in Jeuno or where ever and then set out from there to party for a set length of time and then return to town together as well. But that's just not how a lot of people play. Perhaps a bit frustrating, but we've all learned to deal with it.

I have occasionally gotten invited to all JP parties. Since I don't know any Japanese at all, this can be a bit confusing for me, but I do my best to fill the role that I usually fill in a party, and if they have any concerns, we can generally figure it out via the Auto-Translator. Perfect system? No, but it works.

I don't see what's the big deal about being in a party with Japanese or not.

The only difference between a JP party and an NA party I've found is that when I party with NA I can understand 100% of all the dumb things they say, when I party with Japanese I can understand around 20% of the all dumb things they say (my japanese is very limited).

Other than that I've been in great and catastrophic parties from both sides.

PS> Those etiquette rules Bishop is talking about should be applied to any party, not only Japanese, if NA treated each other the same way they treat JP the NA community would be so much better.

I agree, Raydeus. I wish more NA were willing to group up in town, head out together, and then return to town together after EXP is done, but that doesn't mean that NA don't, and that they don't have a perfectly good system of their own going. I'm happy with either, really.

All I ask is that people do their jobs well, and communicate to the best of their ability.

Overall, these partying tips work for all of FFXI, not just exping with Japanese. My only addition would be:
If you're capable of using bows, crossbows, or bomerangs as a melee, please carry one. It's painful to have to carry around pebbles as MNK, BLU, or DRG. ._. Especially considering how it's hard to get enough pebbles to even last an exp party.
                Generic Info!

That pretty much sums up my expectations for any party I join.

Especially considering that there are several jobs that make perfectly fine or even exceptional pullers in the game. Having to resort to DRG, MNK, or Mage pulling is just depressing.

What does this statement mean? I really don't understand it. Why would a group return to town together after being done with exp? especially with different homepoints and the like.

It would ensure that everyone got back to town safely. It's certainly not a requirement, but it's nice to do.

In my opinion, I think that these rules for etiquette shouldn't be just for impressing the Japanese. It should be for anyone, no matter who you're partying with...especially the first thing that was stated. I can't stand when someone has to go and we've been partying for hours, everyone wants to just disband, but then we're told a replacement is coming. (._.)

And saying that North Americans all have bad manners and little respect kind of hurts. I just think that it is the person who chooses how they want to act. It's not a matter of race. Family and friends, the way you grow up affect it, but not race really.

Safely? Isn't it more respectable to carry some type of warp tool if a mage that can warp/tele isnt' in the party?

Of course what you say may work but really since most camps aren't no where near towns, running together through Valley of Sorrows or Boyahda tree for an hour wouldn't be in the best interest for anyone in the party. I don't mind giving people a lift but causing problems such as wanting everyone to run back to town with them i just don't see it.

When I say "head back to town" I don't necessarily mean that they have to run. Have the WHM tele folks to Altep where everyone can get to a nearby Moogle to Warp or Death Warp, or just have the BLM D2.

I just think it would be nice if the party made sure that everyone got back to their Home Points safely at the end of the exp session. I don't think that's too unreasonable of me.

But hey, it's also generalization to say that all Japanese are elitists or stingy when it comes to inviting. Regardless, this is a good list for those who do not know proper party etiquette.
I never said they weren't unfairy generalizing. Yes, you are correct, they are. Fact is, a lot of them are "English, No thanks" because of the bad experiences they've had with english speakers. They do sterotype us, they do unfairly generalize us, and I honestly don't blame them because I've rarely ever met a JP blm that hasn't offered to D2 us at the end of a pt, or any of the above reasons in the original post.

And I never said all japanese are elitists. I just enjoy partying with Japanese speakers more because I'm less likely to meet someone with the attributes I despise. Honestly, JP people will pt with you even if you don't have the best 1337 weapons and armor in the game as long as you have some sense of manners and respect.

And btw, for those who think JP are bitter due to the RMT issue, you are horribly wrong. Fact is, there are a lot more established JP players than EN players. They could care less that SH prices are below 5m. It's not hurting them all that much, and the ones that do complain about it DEFINETLY doesn't go "stupid EN, why they bring RMT into our beautiful game?"
