Re: In game/ real life couples?
I really keep thinking I should post in this thread. I need to get me and my wife somwhere good to take a good screenshot of us together.
It's funny. My wife had never really played any video games before FFXI. Her parents hated them and convinced her they were a horrible waste of time (while vegetating in front of a TV for hours and not engaging your mind isn't). The only time she played a game before meeting me was when she was in the hospital as a child and they had a Nintendo which she played Super Mario Bros. on. Her parents weren't too keen on that either.
Well she held fast that games were stupid but I got her a little hooked with FF VI. Eventually she played other games like The Sims and enjoyed them. I got her involved in FFXI a month or so after I had started. It took her a long time to get into it but eventually she became as much (or more) into it than I was.
She now has WHM and BLM at 75 and is now leveling BRD to 75. She's very knowledgable about her jobs and it always well equipped. It really has made our relationship better overall.
That story up there was pretty sad but there are definitely benefits to playing with your significant other. Why the game might sometimes bring up new fights it also gives something very engrossing for two people to be very involved in. It's constant conversation fodder. There have been times when we've been in a real bad way with each other but to some extent our need for each other in the game has kept us together in real life and help us get through some rough patches. We scarcely fight about much of anything any more.
