You know you left just in time for the invitation to that one really killer party that would have gotten you at least a level an hour, right?

Depending on the job you can solo 16-20 on Rabbits and Goblins near the La Theine entrance. Having a skilled up ranged attack can net you some fun times with Goblin Ambushers. They give up on their crossbows once they realize they're losing the ranged war.

        lolerz

So, what you're saying is that your previous post where you said to not hate the dunes and be more lighthearted about it was just cause you hadn't pted in the dunes in awhile?

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE BABY- YOU'RE GONNA DIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

On a serious note, I think you might want to relax a little on your pl policy, at least for the dunes. Everyone and their sister uses a pl nowadays. Sure, it makes them bad players, and bad for much longer than ever before, but the problem is when you turn down the pl, they are lvling up and waiting for you in the higher lvls to noob you up. Turning down a pl is just slowing yourself.

You're free to do whatever you want, but I've lvled quite a few times through the dunes (not as many as you, but still), and I know the pain. Well.

        Good luck.

          Oh god.

Bibiki Bay is the Dunes for 60ish.

I hopped back and forth between the bay and the labrynth for...five? Six? levels. If I'd had a journal, it woulda had two kinds of entries:

          a. OMG had an awesome pt in LoO today.
          b. OMG had an incredibly tense pt in the Bay today.
Incredibly tense would probably be followed by a long list of who died in what order to Damnation Dive.

I forget the actual time I spent in Bibiki bay, during the PT where I had a pld tank (all my other bay parties had NIN tanks) but I /DO/ remember seeing

          /sh <Raise> II <please> <pos>!!!

Go across my screen about fifty times, from about eight different names, in various states of autotranslatedness. I also remember taking pity on three of them that were in the same <pos> because I thought they were HNM hunting.

No, three people in the same PT shouting for the same person. Because, y'know...nothing.

I also saw several <job> <experience points> <party> <can I have it>?? with jobs ranging from NIN to RNG, including a wonderful gem that involved "sexy ninja pants"...

          Then there was a memorable series of shouts;

"New linkshel! Recrooting! Cum to <pos> and get yr XXXxxxXXX likshel 2day!"

Yeah I know my noob accent is terrible...and no I have no idea why the guy was recruiting for a linkshell in Bibiki bay. There was no mention what kind of linkshell it was.

          IRONICALLY ENOUGH,

LoO, which everyone had told me to fear because it was "the true test of a whitemage", was a cake walk. I even killed Ose (not alone, durr), and had the whisker in my bazaar for an incredibly long time.

Yes, it was inspired by the Simpsons
If you know how to download and use VRS, I am interested in being tutored.

The Dunes will break a man

It's gotten to the point where if I don't have a group of friends to go to the dunes with, I'll sub BST and solo those levels

I wonder if there were any kids in that party. Judging by their skill level it's probable, but I wonder what their parents thought when they saw:

                WHERE'S MY MONEY!

Just take it like a bitch....

spammed down the chatlog like 20 times, ha!

Well, I read the first post and only half of the replies, and I must say, it did suck for you. On the other hand, you were kinda acting like a so called "elitist" would. You see, sometimes you just have to .. give in, and let others tell you what's good, even though you know it isn't. Argueing and countering isn't always the best. And deffinately not with kids. If you tell them what is the right thing to do, they do the opposite. You should know that. Thing is, even lots of high leveled players want to be right, and show that they know it better.

I keep rereading, trying to find something even mildly elitist in there, but I can't. Oh sure, he's a bitter ol' meany in the forum post. But in-game it seems he was unfailingly polite and made perfectly reasonable suggestions.

I'm usually satisifed with a party if we can keep the EXP rolling in at a reasonable pace, and it gives me time to gently explain the game's mechanics to those who are new. If I try to force the information down their throats they get angry and then refuse to listen to any of it.

Bibiki Bay has been pretty good to me, though the only two jobs I've leveled through it were Dragoon and Paladin. I remember a party there that last six hours and a whole stack of Sole Sushi.

Party #1 : He seemed pretty polite; he let them know that PL wasn't his thing.

Invite #2 : The BLM's tells were bordering on incoherent. Plus, analyzing the job combos, he felt a duo wasn't the best option. Maybe the subjob comment could be misconstrued as elitist, but he even admitted he could have been nicer.

Party #2 : Well dia and bio do not stack. It wasn't a case of him being pedantic, he just wanted the mages to stop wasting mp. Also, he just asked if the guy had a WHM sub, and the BLM jumps down his throat.

Party #3 : OMG the macros. Think of the children ;;. I would have been out of there sooner .

Edit: spelling defeats me once again.

Aelathir i know the pain of the dunes well yet i've lvled with alot of nin there who don't wanna tank in the dunes and they solve this by doing what ninjas nin in the 1st place before people starting using em as tanks. They subbed thf andp uleld and DD forcing people to find wars or plds to tank or just making there own. Some of my best partys in the dunes had a pld tank and a nin/thf pullin and surpsingly we had very few mistakes and stuff.

Man, I must be really lucky then. I've only been playing for a month and have taken 2 jobs through the dunes (WAR and MNK) from level 10-20. Out of all that, I've had only one bad party. The others ranged from good to awesome.

The one really outstanding party that I've had in the dunes consisted of 2 x PAL/WAR, 2 x WHM/BLM, WAR/MNK, and a THF/WAR. We were tearing up pugs like crazy. I think I leveled three times in that one few hour session.
