I'm sorry, I just find it hilarious that people call it Way-no.

It may seem trivial to you in this case, but keep in mind that the alphabet set that we use is common among sevral different languages. Not all of them use the letter in the same way.

Thus, an individual who speaks a different native language may instinctively prounounce words in different ways than how you would. Similarly, you may pronounce foreign words wrong even though they are spelt with letters familiar to you.

Nope, Spanish is very similar to Japanese, In spanish you'd say: (hmm how do I put this in english!!)

Je (as in jay without the y), u (which is pronounced pretty much like oo in hood) and no (as in knock). Je-u-no

Which is very similar to Jyu-no in Japanese.

Well, if the list that Palin posted is true, then I pronouce so many incorrectly.

Bastok - Bass-tock
Mhaura - Muh-har-a
La Thiene - La Thenn (th like in thick)
Zeruhn - Zuh-roon
Gusgen - Guz-gin

Some of those just look retarded though. Like Zeruhn and Gustaberg. Goos-tah-burg? Come on.

Then again, I seem to pronounce them as they are spelled. Helps me to spell them correctly. Which is more important, I think.

J is the most bizarre letter in the alphabet, many languages differ.

Spanish use it silently most of the time, jajajaja translates directly into hahahah, it's a silent use, for example.

It's spelled Valkurm Dunes, so I'd say "Val-kerm."

What's really funny (to me) though, is listening to people try to pronounce things that are left in Japanese (Like Ninja items and abilities).

It's very painful listening to your teammates do something like:

Mijin Gakure: (Mee-jeen Gah-koo-ray)
"Oh man guys, I hit like Umpteen-Hundred damage on my last Midge-inn Gay-kurr! I Midge-inn Gay-kurr'ed him good!"

Utsusemi: (Oot-soo-semm-ee)
"Oh man, I couldn't get Oot-Semmi up to save my life!"

and so forth

Oh, just to add something fun: Next time you're out near Mhaura, check out the little wooden archway with the sign, out a ways from the town. It says, as far as I can tell, "Mhaula" , with an L.

Basically, when you say something containing an R or an L, the sound you use in Japanese is mid-way between an R and an L . This in turn, explains a lot of the "Engrish" translations where an R is used instead of an L, and vice versa. So if you ever wondered how that came about, now you know...
