    /blush. Thanks guys.

    Back on topic...

Whether Feba was there first or not really isn't really the cusp of the matter imho. Yes, I know noobs can be annoying. Yes, I know they can be stupid and selfish. But I normally try to either a) ignore them or b) reason with them. With all the PLing out there (and don't forget the possibility that this was a bought account), of course we'll have higher-level morons. I just got my BLM to 51 in just under a month. With two months since the xbox release, it's entirely possible to do in that ammount of time, plus some. don't forget; some noobs make it from 10 to 25 in a long 14-18-hour PLing session nowadays (yes, I have personally PTd with some... "My BF is PL us, I was 10 this morning, so that's why my gear sucks.") I've seen PLs as late as the 40s and early 50's even!

In the end, think of it this way: You're basically like a full-grown 50 year old man on the server. You've been around the block more than a few times. You know the ins-and-outs of the game like the wrinkles on your hands. So, why are you arguing with the punk know-it-all 7 year-old kid next door? You can use your wisdom to help him understand the world or you can ignore him, but antagonizing him is below you.

      Re: It's not your mob.

I just wanted to ask something along the lines of this situation...

When I farm I don't mind others farming in the same area. I feel there are enough
mobs in Vana'diel for everyone to farm. I just wanted to ask how you guys felt
about "train" farming. I won't do it unless no one else is farming in my area. Are
the mobs that are unclaimed in the "train" fair game?

I will usually let people train farm in the area I am farming until it starts to really cut
into my farming. At that point I feel that all unclaimed mobs are fair game. My
reason for this is sometimes when people train farm, I feel like I could have killed
the mob and it could be respawning instead of them string it along.

Also, I haven't encountered this, but I suppose if you were able to get enough hate
on all the mobs you have, (if you have a train) a person wouldn't be able to take
unclaimed ones with the new and impoved? claiming system.

Sorry if this is off the original topic, I felt like it was relevant.

I agree with you, and I think that's kinda the point of this thread. If you are farming in an area and someone else shows up and starts killing there isn't much you can do about it really, mobs are free for all.

However if they try to start training mobs and deliverately try to kick you out of the camp that's when the good old Cyclone Justiceâ„¢ kicks in.

          Re: It's not your mob.

Despite lack of PvP, a lot of this game is still based on competition - in this case, for monsters. As someone else mentioned, if someone is exping, I'll take my farming/skilling-up elsewhere, but a fellow farmer is just a bit of competition as far as I'm concerned. My rights don't trump theirs; and nor do theirs mine.
However, if someone is having trouble dealing with this situation - assuming that presence = claim while farming - then that's pretty sad. Moreover, if this person's only response to said competition is insults and threats, then I'm likely to react as Feba did - "oh, you think voke is playing dirty? why, I consider that a challenge!"

However, I think train farming is different, especially if you assume you own monsters in the train. The idea of farming is to kill things quickly for their drops - emphasis on the quickly. Train farming doesn't kill monster X quickly; rather, it disrupts re-spawn times, and messes up the situation for other players (given that quick, single kills should lead to a steady flow of monsters through re-pops).

As for the acusation such behaviour ruins the game - I bet the BLU is the same kind of player who blames high prices on gil-sellers and greedy crafters, thinks SE is out to make players unhappy, and generally can't deal with what is dealt to her.

            Re: It's not your mob.

Ehh, don't know not enough detail to the situation of what instances were occuring to cause that responce. I've been irritated more then once when I have a party EXPing and I'm out on the next mob to pull in waiting for that last hit to land before pulling it, and having someone take the mob I've been walking and following as close as I could safely do trying to indicate I'm going to attack it next to keep people from taking.

Never really stopped them, I could of cared less if they attacked anything else even if it was the same mob just a little off from it. Irritates me then I just adjust claiming to compensate for them not realizing, I'll go off though if I'm claiming a single specific mob by presence and you take it knowingly.

              Re: It's not your mob.

First off, to the people who are defending the Blu by saying 'she might be new and not know better' that doesn't excuse any of her actions. You learn IRL better ways t odeal with minor problems and ranting and raving is not one of them.

I have been in that situation many time before, in that exact same farming spot. As a thf I would draw my weapon, charge SA, walk up to the mob and watch it's name go purple as someone spam vokes it while running from across the screen. Usually afterwards I'll return the favor a few times then leave without saying a word. It's counter-productive to fight over claims on farming mobs when I could get better gil results somewhere else.

It's also the reason why I haven't been back to that marsh since.

Yeah, try getting that one understood by my brother's GF. She's made ranting and raving as her first method to deal with minor problems. Don't know how many times I've tried to get it across to her to quit it, yet she still does it.

                  Re: It's not your mob.

I can understand train farming if it's being done by a mage using AoEs. For them, it's more efficient to take out a bunch of little mobs with one or two -gas, then to have to kill each one with a single target spell.

However, the reason players train farm usually isn't because it's more efficient. Generally, training is an attempt to lay claim (and a dubious one at that) to multiple mobs when competition is around.

I used to farm in Giddeus for necklaces and silver beastcoins. I had been at one spot for at least an hour when a Galka PLD showed up to farm the same mobs. He saw me resting there between pops, and went away. A little while later, he came back into that area with a small train of Yagudos, attempting to train the ones near me as well. In a situation like that, yellow means fair game. Just because you get a mob to follow you, it doesn't mean you own it.
