      Re: It's not your mob.

I ran into a similar problem not too long ago. I went to Lower Delkfutt's Tower as BLU41/NIN20 with a PLD61/WHM30 to try to learn a few spells. Due to a long party, I was even a couple of spells behind. When we got to the room with the bogies on the second floor, there were two other BLU38/WHM16 (in a party) there. Keep in mind we were all there for the same reason. The PLD used Flash to claim one, so it would beat on him until it used Terror Touch. One of the other BLUs immediately started bitching about it. I kinda snapped and said, "fuck yall." I know I shouldn't have, but I could already see where this was headed.

      BLU#2: we were here first
Me: so? i need the spell just as much as yall
Me: if you cant deal with it leave
BLU#1: oh you must be knew to the game
Me: no actually ive been playing for over 2 years
Me: long enough to know these arent your mobs
BLU#1: that long and you still dont know to learn spells before you level so you arent gimped?
BLU#2: theres nowhere else for a LV41 to fight bogies?
(Note that they were only three levels lower than me, and I could learn two other spells in Lower Delkfutt's Tower)
Me: actually i do learn spells before i level
BLU#1: its a LV40 spell youre LV41 do the math
(I wasn't even going to attempt to explain that I was in a sinlge party from LV38 to LV41)
Me: whatever im gonna /blist yall now so yall can stop bitching
BLU#1: sounds like a grand idea
      /blist add n00bs

Shortly thereafter, the Bogy used Terror Touch, we finished it off, I learned the spell, and we left. For all their whining, I only "stole" one mob...
I'll be your best friend, if you give me your soul.

And for all their complaining, they could have just said at the beginning...

"Scuse me, Mr. Blue Mage 41 and friend, are you all getting spells? {Team Up?}"

Very funny, gotta wonder if they knew you learned it-cause if they did, probably even more pissed.

I say she needs to learn a few things about the basics of the game before playing it again.
As bad as the WHM was, this was of talking about someone you've never met is almost as bad, imho.

Feba, we know that a mob is no one's unless they claim it first. But don't you think you took it too far by bringing your friend? This was just a new player who understands nothiong about how the game is played. At least she was trying to farm instead of shouting in Bastok for some "Gilz."

              Re: It's not your mob.

1- My friend came of his own will. I didn't even suggest it to him, he wanted to see this Mithras yelling about as they were.
2- a Lv41BLU and a Lv50WHM aren't "New" enough to be flinging about insults, and if they've been around long enough to say that it's "people like" me who have "fucked ffxi", they can't be too new.
3- I tried to explain the fact that a mob is no one's before I started Claim fest '06. Apperently, it isn't, and if they don't take that advice, that moves them from the "new player" category to "noob".

                Re: It's not your mob.

I'm guessing that they were frustrated by somebody killing stuff in the same area as them. Saying that you're screwing up the game is a bit much, though. Saying anything in general is just a bad idea, actually. Just gets them to actually try to out-claim you, like what happened in this thread.

I don't understand why whoever got there second didn't see somebody farming in that small area and just move to another spot though.

I've never fully understood why people feel that they "own" part of the game we all pay the same amount to play...

Not always, again, i don't know anything about spawn rates or hunting/farming spots in FFXI.

However, in WoW, there are 6 total mobs that can drop a crafting recipe....
So why should the first person there not share the spawns? What gives that first person the right to tell someone else they can't hunt there?

I belive Feba mentioned he was being childish regarding his responce although I can certainly understand him doing it. Hell, I probably would have don't the same after the abuse the 41st level noob started spewing. Had the person sent a tell explaining they needed a certain mob to learn an ability I might be a little more simpathetic but to just start yelling abuse in /shout or /tell does not speak well for the Bluemage in question.
Also if the Bluemages complaint was he felt Feba was camping on top of him I noticed Feba's post mentioned he was there first meaning the other guy camped on top of Feba and has no basis to gripe.
By the time someone takes an advanced job like Blue Mage to 41 hopefully a they will have an idea of how to farm. Don't know if bluemages can use bows or crossbows, but they have much better range than provoke by that level.

On a side note...blue can only use one weapon, one handed sword... nothing else, no shield, no ranged weapons...but well she could always switch jobs to farm with something else.

As entertaining as it is to f*ck with people that tell us how we should or shouldn't be doing things, I kind of agree. Going all-out to take all the mobs is going a bit far.
