Well it's part cultural and part personal, you can't generalize either way.

What I can say though is that pretty much every Japanese I've met in game is 10x more polite than NA.

Also in all my time playing I've only been /checked once or twice by a japanese player. But I've been checked hundreds of times by NA.


But that doesn't really mean anything, I'm sure there are rude or nosy japanese out there.

Excessive /checking can get you on a blacklist pretty fast, and in extreme cases will get you such a bad reputation for being nosy that it will affect your reputation at end-game.

Stuff like this is one of the reason's I've been avoiding endgame like the plague. It seems so dependent on reputation (which can be damaged in any number of innocent ways, such as checking someone 4 or 5 times lol geez) and just a popularity contest, I'm just really not into it. If there's an item that I'm interested in I might check a person quite a few times, depending on what we're doing and if I have enough time to consider it properly. If that's going to hurt my rep in endgame, you can have your endgame.

As for the JP thing, I think the reputation comes from when the game first came out, they were accousted by alot of NA checks which was something that JPs in general didn't do to each other. They took offense to it. But I think over the years, they, like us, have adjusted to the other culture and don't mind it nearly as much as they used to.
