Like, 1 is 0-20 points, 2 is 20-30, 3 is 30-40, etc.
Typically, whoever is in the highest teir gets the first choice on lot, then it trickles down until someone decides to lot it. At which point, only people in that teir can lot it. In some systems, you sacrifice a certain amount of points when you get an item, lot an item, or you sacrifice all your points when you get/lot an item.
It's not really important for a newb to know, and the rules will vary from LS to LS
Speaking of AFs ... and such. I remember on my first main, I spent nearly two weeks on Genkai 1. My little group got so much exp, I think we all would've hit level 52 if it wasn't for that cap >_>
Anyway I was the last to complete the Genkai 1 in my static and some of them got to 52...
My first time with AF was a horrid experience as well. DRK AF in Castle Oz when astral rings were still in the coffer = nightmare. It took a total of a month to get enough help to complete my AF and some nice folks that day in Castle Oz (Back before the RMTs were really in full strength, but still had some @sshole THFs)
However, my experiences were quite dramatically different on my second character.
Took one hour total (Yes, one hour total) to complete Genkai 1. Took a total of 3 hours to complete RDM AF. First mob that we kill in Castle Oz drops the Key and the coffer was just sitting there at the bottom of the stairs. >_> Same with every single AF coffer piece. Chapeau hat was a breeze since we had 6 level 75s with full merits helping 4 RDMs with their AFs (There was actually a total of 8 RDMs in that alliance LOL)
