If we don't like something, collectively, if our hatred for it throbs like an abscess beneath every thread, does that mean that they're doing something right?

As hard as it may be, don't take this game or your characters too seriously. I promise you - the guys that really own your account don't.
Agreed with Ciros's post, but it's not so bad since that feeling of fear while keeping a lookout for aggro moving through Zulkheim has been replaced by a sensation of how much better of a player I am now that I was.
I remembered something from beta... A RDM in our group had deodorize, and we all thought it was awesome. He casted deodorize on himself and ran behind an IT goblin and poked it, then ran back. We all took turns doing it too. Amazingly, we didn't get stabbed in the face. We all thought it made it so the goblin wouldn't aggro us from behind.
Generic Info!
Yay for broken connection preventing me from exping/meriting!
I remember being in KRT as a lvl 20 (The area underground before where Spook spawns), with only Sneak and going "Wow! All I have is sneak! I wonder why these monster's aren't attacking me."
Duh, Ren, they're sound aggo. >.<!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I was such a noob.

-Still a Noob

I remember thinking when I first started, that if I didn't move while a sounds aggro mob was around then it wouldnt aggro. After all, you have to actually be in front of sight mobs, and if you're not moving you aren't making sound. One hit by a skele, the subsequent loss of hp to the point of it being yellow and the ensuing butt rape by the entire zone's undead made me realize that being still does not equate to being silent. ><

Yeah and you had to get other players to help you change jobs. Everyone was so much closer back then too. Having your friends suddenly appear naked in front of you all the time probably broke down some barriers.
I miss doing those low level rank missions with a bunch of friends. We'd join together and do rank 1-3 and such. What I miss the most is the feeling of being a newb. The wonder and awe everything back then had.
-I miss the xp parties in shakrami maze., and tahrongi canyon.. it's a ghost town there now.
-I remember when there were whispers about a mob called "the Valkurm Emperor"!!! My imagination ran wild trying to picture what this evil monster looked like!
I don't miss the feeling of being a noob. I still have it. Deep down somewhere inside.
I kinda miss having my husband play with me, though. He doesn't just 'hang out' with me in the game. *I don't think he hangs out with anyone, or just hangs out at all though*
Jahn took me on the manaclipper ride in Bibiki bay one time, level 62 whitemage, first time to dhamel rock. There were dolphins leaping off the bow of the manaclipper.
I almost fell off the front of the boat running up to see them closer. It was such an awesome moment of "I never knew this was here...it's been waiting all this time for me to discover it." And I really wished it woulda been him there with me, and not Jahn...
That's also what the manta ray screenshot is about, in my journal, although that was with a different set of friends.
Then there was the level 10 cap abjhalis-ghelsba ballista that wsa Aygen's goodbye party. Two rules: Only event gear (level 1) and weapons (but we all used our fists), and be stupid.
It was an open diorama, and these JP players were in the same event as us, so there was this group of massively naked people running around in swimsuits or yakutas and dream caps, beating each other with our fists, and here these guys have all the 'uber' level 10 gear and weapons, staring at us going "Crazy Americans"
That was really really awesome...
Seeing Fenrir spawn infront of me, the first time, in Saruta. I'd been watching my husband play so I knew it wasn't a monster about to kill me. But it did give me a minor heart attack, because I'd never seen the glowy rune before.
More recently, seeing my first assault bhoot. Now I know that undead can indeed have LSD addictions.
Yes, it was inspired by the Simpsons
If you know how to download and use VRS, I am interested in being tutored.
*There is a high likelihood anyone who tutors me will recieve mucho artses*
I miss those massive mob trains. Those were so much fun, believe it or not. And it was just exciting to haul ass lest ya wanted to be owned.
I missed the time someone trained two Fallen Evacuees to the Garlaige zone. Suddenly, someone Calls for Help and 50 people jumped them. I never did figure out why they kept returning to full health until later (Blood Saber).
I missed the low-cost economy and seeing 1 million gil a rare thing.
I missed being able to show off in Valurm by killing Bogys/ Gobs.
I missed SE's non-broken claim system.
I missed not having the anti-MPK system, as the game was much more challenging.
I missed those tells from the Inuyasha fanboys/ fangirls and them trying to snuggle or kick my Taru, Shippo.
I missed the time when I could RP in FFXI and not be called a n00b.
I missed how much FUN I could have back then. I was actually in an EXP alliance (yes, ALLIANCE) fighting mobs for fun in La Thene Plateau. Then we decided to take a bunny and I was one-shotted by Whirl Claws.
I missed my Rank 2-3 mission and the dragon fight.
I missed Eco-Warrior quests!
Thinking that PLs were the shizznit.
I missed when a guy tried to MPK us with a Yuhtunga Mandragora. =D
Ah, I missed those days. Wish that SE would bering it all back.
Almost four years experience playing FFXI. I am a Raccoon, not a Hyena--despite my name states I am one.
