Yeah I guess you're right... But, if I'm fighting two lizards, is it fair that someone else can run up and steal the NM from me because my pet was attacking a 2nd one?

Care to elaborate on why? I'm interested to know....

If you want to tackle multiple enemies keeping claim on them should be one of the challenges.

One mob claim per individual or party (or alliance?) is the rule. That's the way the game works. I don't see why a pet should allow you to circumvent this rule.

Hmm I guess I agree with you both.

                  Although...

It's hard for me to say that because I'm killing a single lizard with Carby (back to the LL example) and Leaping Lizzie spawns and I dia her (mind you I've likely been there for hours); It's fair for someone running by on Chocobo to just grab and "steal" her from me?

Or would that not be stealing in your eyes since I had two mobs?

I understand being respectful of other players.. and by no means would I be chaining "their" mobs. I'm the same way with respecting other player's mining points, or even a BST in an area I want to party. I'll let him be and try to steer clear of "his area".

So if someone runs up and "steals" LL from me, that's just the way it is? I always like to think there's "unspoken" rules as well...

I wouldn't consider it stealing because you're already engaged with another mob. Kind of a hard line, I guess, but that's only fair. If you're worried about a situation like that, then make sure that you can quickly kill that random mob if the NM you want pops. Then you'll be able to get the claim free and clear.

Agreed. I guess that's the chance I take with Carbuncle...

If you were to have the pet stop attacking the other mob, that'd solve your problem, right?

Hmm. I'm pretty sure since I normally claim with "Dia" that releasing/retreating the pet would cause the 2nd lizard to come after me.

On a small mob like Lizards in South Gustaberg that's not a problem... But if it were something bigger... closer to an "even match" I might have a problem.

Yeah, but in the case of your example camping LL I think that would give up your claim on the first mob and cement it on the NM. If you were fighting something in the EM range you probably wouldn't be fighting two at a time on purpose, right?

                              No, I guess I wouldn't

I'm pretty sure it's one per character, so a party could have up to 6 claimed as long as each person was concentrating on their own mob. (Alliance could have up to 18.) The reason why a Sleeped link goes yellow-named again is because the BLM goes back to nuking the first mob (which never lost the red name because the other party members were still attacking it).

Of course, with the recent changes this may be different now...
