If that's the case, it's news to me.

Of course, with the recent changes this may be different now...

It should be one per character AND one per pet

My husband and I were killing Ghouls in Gusgen recently and we were attacking them separately. Whether we were in close proximity to each other or not, my mob's name never went yellow. It always remained red. We were both melee-ing.

Next time we're duoing I'll try casting a spell on a mob and see if I can claim it separately without regular attacks. The new anti-MPK system seems to have a preference for melee-ing=claiming.

Well I figured out why my worms despawn on me. The worms in eastern/western altepa only spawn at night... But that still doesn't address why the hell the worms are turning yellow on me in the first place, so it's still broken

Engaging and disengaging often does it, as well as putting a certain distance between you. I think the old strategy for Rangers was to fire a shot, run out of it's casting distance, then run back in for another shot, and repeat. This wont work anymore, because if you're out of it's magical attack radius it will become unclaimed and slowly regain health until you hit it again.

I just stand in one place, I'm a 75 rdm skilling up archery cuz I have a lot of extra arrowheads from skilling bonecraft. When I was skilling as Rdm/Blm (cuz I wanted to warp home from certain places) I wouldn't engage at all, and stand in once place, and the mob would sometimes (rarely, but at least a few times per worm) turn yellow immediately after I landed a shot. Going as Rdm/Rng, I'd engage and just stand there again in just one place, and same thing. It's only annoying because the worms in altepa despawn during the day after turning yellow, but it's still a bit quirky that they turn yellow at all.

Try engaging next time, maybe they'll stay claimed?

Well there's another problem with the MPK fixes.

Mazurka. Its now being used by HNMs and RMT alike to steal claim from competition in sky and HNM camps and it works. Addtionally, it is now used to MPK.

There are those fine, "upstanding" HNM shells that could swear up and down that they'd only ever resort to such a tactic against RMT, but have already proven otherwise.

BRD/NIN tanking is a nice gimmick, but with the enmity spike on Mazurka now known and in the beginnings of being heavily exploited for stealing claim/MPK, its time to gut the enmity spike it generates.

What makes it dangerous it the fact its str is determined by the # of players in the party. So in essence, its like a pld with a ton of eminity, voking back to back 6 straight times.

Nin75, Bst75. Drk61, War61, Rdm40, All other jobs are 37. All 3 starting city missions completed. All Zilart missions completed. All CoP missions completed. TouA completed.

Yeah they some tried it again today on Faffy when my LS had claim. It went yellow just briefly, but we kept claim, but in the split second it did go yellow, faffy dispensed justice on the party in question.

For starters, if you fail to put up blockaid and take some damage, anyone outside your alliance and can use that as a backdoor to start getting hate rather easily by curing you. From there, all they have to do is spam this to make it go yellow for claim.

It can still be done with blockaid fully active on an alliance, but it takes longer from what I gather and going yellow is very brief, but still possible to claim and use for MPK.

Re: Let Square-Enix know their MPK fix is broken

Mazurka only gains them hate if their alliance already has hate (ie someone in your alliance has forgotten Blockaid and they've been cured etc..)

Pretty easy to tell at Fafnir... if a non-claiming alliance has managed to gain hate, they'll get hit by wings. Normally they won't...

Spamming moves doesn't make the mob go yellow though, but it can get the outside alliance hate causing Faffy to flail...

                        Hate =/= Claim
