  • My god I hate idiots

So today I am in valkurm dunes with my 12MNK/6WAR. I get invited to a party, and wait 20 minutes for idiots to scramble around and take forever to finally meet up. I tell the puller not to pull Incredibly toughs, as I know I cannot tank one. So I die, and the rest of the party lives after first incredible tough goblin.
After death here is what the chat log looked like.

    Masikis:ME and Krautos(The puller) ftw
    Krautos: xD
    Me:WHM can I get a raise?
Masikis: Raise is 25 smart one.
Me: Alright, Masikis. Shut your mouth. You're an immature little brat, grow up.
Masikis: lol ur the dead one bitch
Masikis: im ldr id watch ur mouth
Me:I told you not to pull IT

Basically then the whole party abandons the two idiots after I get a raise from a kind whm, and 3 of us create a new party. I pray that I don't ever have to deal with people like this again.

You're certainly a shining beacon of restraint and maturity.

Set your home point. The time it takes to look for a raise and wait for weakness to wear is longer than the time it takes to earn back the exp you lose dying at that level.

Don't you gain half exop back from raise?

No, it's 25%. Total XP needed from 12 > 13 is 3000. You lose 10% dying, which is 300 XP. So you regain 75 from Raise. That's one fight. Even if it were 50%, it would be two fights at most. Two fights might be longer than the time it takes to find a raise and wait for weakness to wear off, but not likely if you're killing at a decent rate.

Re: My god I hate idiots

Raise 1 (or even Raise 2 or 3 when cast on a player below level 50) only restores 25% of the xp you lost from death. Once you're past level 50, Raise 2 will restore 75%, and Raise 3 restores 90%... I think.

I agree that every player who goes to Valkurm to exp should set their homepoint there. The amount of exp you get back from a Raise is so small, it's not worth all the time it takes to get one and recover from weakness.

If I were the OP, I would have left the party anyway. It's a bad sign when the rest of the pt cares so little about a dead pt member, especially when it's the tank. I remember one pt in Qufim when I was leveling PLD. I was lvl 20, and the rest of the pt was lvl 22. They didn't like the exp they were getting from crabs, so they suggested we move onto Pugils. I strongly protested.

We pull the first Pugil, and I end up dying, with the rest of the pt barely surviving. I think one of the members even leveled on that mob. With my corpse barely cooling off on the tundra, the pt decides to disband, leaving behind my dead body. Not one member even bothered to try and get me a raise. They didn't even act like they cared. I wouldn't have minded homepointing. But the fact that they acted like they could care less I "took one for the team" was very disappointing.

Raise restores 25% of the lost exp. At level 12 you lose 300 exp when you die, so you'd only regain 75 exp from the Raise. Then you'd have to wait a few minutes for weakness to wear off, during which time you could've fought an extra mob or two to get a few hundred exp for the entire party instead.

I refuse to. First reason is my hp is in Whitegate and redo'ing it is a pain in the patoot. Second reason is I always have a reraise scroll on me and if its looking grim I pop it. Then I'll reraise and the next time I die, its hp and disband.

It's certainly a player's perogative to not set their HP in Valkurm for whatever reason, but if they die and I can't find a raise, I'm not going to feel badly about replacing them.

Murphy's law always hits me in the dunes.

I get to my Pt, leaving my HP in bastok and die 5 times in one PT. I finally set my HP and selbina and end up with a pt getting me 3 lvls with no deaths, but stopping about 4k until I hit 20....

Hmmm.. seems to me like irony hit this thread with a wooden bat.

I dislike it when people don't set their home points, or even if they did, they demand a raise nonetheless in the Dunes.

                            Level 12: Total exp = 2800 : Exp loss = 300 : Raise exp loss = 225
                            Resource: Exp chart

If you're fighting lizzies or goblins over by Konschtat (spelling?), and set your HP at the guard, half the time you can make it back to camp before the mob that killed you ends up dying (more than likely compensating for that 75 exp difference).

Seems to me it beats waiting several minutes for a raise, and then another several minutes for weakness just for that 75 exp.

                            Just my two cents.

Well, if you do things in an orderly fashion, this shouldn't be a problem.

Level 10 job. Hit dunes. Set HP in Selbina. Exp away till you hit 19/20. Go back to nearest town, change to high level job. Use Wajaom Woodlands port. Reset HP in Al Zhabi.

Definitely a lot less stress IMO.
