"Stuck" on a server despite deleting/recreating

Hi,

I'm curious if anyone else is having or has had this problem. I had been playing on Fenrir up until I canceled my Content ID early this month. A couple of days ago I had a change of heart and reactivated the ID, but wanted to start fresh on a different server. Since I didn't care where, I deleted my character and created a new one.

The new character was assigned to Fenrir as well. This by itself isn't too unlikely, I guess, but I deleted and recreated at least seven more times, and every single time the character went to Fenrir. In my past experiences, server assignment has been a LOT more random than that, and I'd never gotten the same server more than twice in a row. Is something going on, or is probability just laughing at me? ;_;

I'm not sure why they would lock you to that server, but I'd suggest a World Pass request.

Once you keep one content ID, it locks to a server.

You would have to get a WP or delete the ID and make a new one, not restore it.

I suggest you pick a random server from the World Pass thread. See if there are any you can use.

Yeah, unless you get a world pass you are going to be stuck, the game seems to lock a server selection depending on where your first character was put.

Get a worldpass for another server - I recommend a populated server - and you should be fine.

Im on Fenrir now, used to be over on Quetz, but aside from QCDN.org, there wasnt any other reason to stay there - the economy and people playing just did my head in, Fenrir is actually pretty active, but wherever you choose - good luck!

Question: How does FINAL FANTASY XI decide which World I will play in?

Answer: Unless you use a World Pass, the World is decided randomly when you create your character. However, if you have already created a character, any additional ones you create will appear in the same World as the first (unless you use a World Pass to specify otherwise). If you already have characters in different Worlds, you may specify one of those Worlds when you create a new character. However, if you don't specify a World, the new character will be placed in the World that appears to the lower left of the Select Character screen when you log in. If you wish to specify a world other than one in which you already have a character, you will need to first obtain a World Pass.

o.@ That's odd. My first character was on Remora and i was deleting/re creating and ended up on Diabolos..did they recently make it so your locked to that server if you delete said character?

No, there's a thread elseforum about someone trying to land on a server without a worldpass, and they say they've landed on several different servers. If you don't have any active characters and keep ending up on the same server, it's just luck/timing/population-balancing.

Meh. Maybe I used a WP and dont remember lawl. It was over a year ago >.>.

It also might be that the name you are requesting is only available on that server you keep getting placed on. I found that was a problem when creating a new character when I rebought the game (And it's why I'm Aelathir instead of just plain old Ael, like I wanted).
